I have turnigy 3s 1500mah lipo. I had plane crashed while flying with this lipo. About 15 min after the crash lipo was getting hot. I allowed it to cool down. Next day I checked this lipo using wattmeter, it was showing only 2 cells and was not detecting one of the cell. I verified this thing using lipo charger, it was also showing same thing.
Is there any way I can repair this lipo...? or can I use this as 2 cell battery...?

3s battery means – 3 cells attached in series, after crash the cells dislocated and got short-circuited which caused overheating, remove the battery cover immediately, and check the wiring inside the battery.

Don’t try to recharge the battery, I think one cell out of 3 is dead, carefully remove the cover, on the top of the battery you will find some packing separating the leads, just check the position of wirings coming out from each cell & the balance charger wire. If you find risk involving take the battery to your nearest automobile battery shop.

I think this would be the better option. I will go to automobile shop tomorrow.
Thanks for your advice...!

I am not sure if the auto guy be competent enough to handle LiPos...  Please safely dispose the LiPO if you don't have proper expertise to do the open heart sugary to the the LiPO. They are quite dangerous if accidental short circuited. injurious Sparks and even fire/explosion are some of dangers.

Making the 3S to 2S woul;d need a 3Pin JST connector (RMC connector as called in India). Find some videos on Youtube which teaches that.

I think Ujawal is right, it is always better to prefer a bypass surgery than open heart.

You are lucky the lipo did not go up in flame right after the crash.
Bury the lipo somewhere safe, before it cremates u.
Being a heart surgeon by trade, don't become a candidate for plastic surgery/ appear on national TV as a suspected bomb maker who blew up his house.
Be careful. Discard the LIPO It is unsafe.
With all due respect, DO NOT open/dissect it. Someone who knows that much about repairing/reconditioning lipos would not have initiated this discussion in the forum. The internal circuitary may have burnt in the initial shortcircuit.
The internal resistance of lipos is so low that one can draw a huge current through it if it is short circiuted and the next thing you know is that it is in flame/ explodes.

Yes, LiPo is really dangerous. I have seen an youtube video and really shocked to see the fire & fumes out of it.  Shocked

Do we need to take some precaustions before putting the Lipo battery in Plane, like covering it with some packing material to safeguard againt crash?

Do we need to use Lipo Sack always while charging?

Regards,
Dileep

Do we need to take some precaustions before putting the Lipo battery in Plane, like covering it with some packing material to safeguard againt crash?

Make sure it will not get punctured OR shorted during flight.  So wrapping them individually in liquid proof bags and making sure they are away from sharp objects should take care of it.

Do we need to use Lipo Sack always while charging?

Recommended.  Otherwise keep them away from easily flammable objects like carpets, curtains, paper, clothes etc should do (just plain floor, away from liquids of any sort).

I think I was totally wrong in discussing about repairing a lipo in an open forum, which may mislead / encourage youngsters doing so. why to risk your life when it is a matter of 1k.
