Anybody here using the brand of lipos named "Zippy Flightmax" ?

Feedback requested, as me and some others at the field are going to get a bunch of lipos of various sizes for all of us.

Don't know of flight max  but I have been using Regular Zippy batteries of 11.1V 4300 mah  for the past 2 years  and barring some soft puffing up they have been great and have taken a lot of abuse.
They are good.

BTW if you let me know what you want I could possibly check out with desire power and get them shipped to you. Wink Roll Eyes

I have seen them in Jakkur with seniors like Aadarsh, Abhay, Prashant etc. Abhay had good review for them. A couple of them are already on the way for Vinay and Me! Sio crossing our fingers!

some one told that 1S Lipos are available in local Electronic market in SP Road, Bangalore. Anybody tried making 'Batteries' from individual LiPo Cells. I know its job for seasoned soldering skill and need specialized (cheap) tools like non conductive tweezers/clamps (I bough such tweezer for 90 bucks, after nearly shorting my LiPo while puttign a Dean).

I know of someone who was using a Zippy (regular) lipo for his TX, and another flyer on our field just started using couple of 6s 5000mah ones about 3 weeks ago for his Trex 600 electric heli.  It is too early to base a decision on those two data points alone.

Since we are planning to get a pretty good number of them, I wanted to get a general feedback.  So far, it looks just as good as any other brand, with no specific issues.

Hi Anwar,

I have been using Zippy Flightmax pack on my Tx for quite sometime now.  They are superb.  And they come with both the Futaba plug and the JR plug.  So I can swap between JR and Futaba.  Thats just the Tx Lipo!!

My friend here in Chennai has been using 6s 5000mAh Zippy Flightmax packs on his Trex 600 here.  Saw him even yesterday and he was very confident about these packs.  Provided the charger is good, I dont foresee any difficulties with these packs.  I would personally go in for Hyperion though the cost would be higher.

BTW I have ordered an ICharger capable of charging upto 20Amps!! The same friend who has the 6s Flightmax has been using the Icharger and claims it to be super good at balancing! Waiting for the charger still!!

As Ujjwal said, they are used extensively at jakkur. And on the US RC sites pics, I see that many use more of Rhinos. One thing I noted that as you go smaller in size like 1Ah, compared to turnigy these flightmax, Rhinos are longer in size and slimmer, where as turnigy are fatter and shorter. Just my tip if shape mattered Thumbs Up

Hi Anwar

I am using "Zippy Flightmax" and Rhino LiPo batteries for over 3 years. I got all of them from Hobbyking. I never had any issues. I consider Rhino batteries superior since they are light, deliver exact Amps and they are usually compact when compared to "Zippy Flightmax". I have

1000mAh*5
1500mAh*7
1750mAh*2
2200mAh*4
3000mAh*3
4200mAh*2

I love both of them Smiley

Never tried Rhino but am using Zippy Flightmax 3S 2200mAH 20C, 2 of which were used ones from a forum member. My electric flying is not too much but I have no issues with them so far. I do not use the balancer on a regular basis but have been monitoring the cell voltages. They hold to within a couple of millivolts difference, at most.

And when you factor in the price, they are well worth it. Even better when HK has a sale - got 3 @ USD 6.99!

In fact, I had severe problems with the Dong Yang brand, bought at a rather high price ( of course that WAS quite some time ago) , from a known source in India. They turned out to be plain awful and had to be discarded very soon.

Our experience with the "Zippy Flightmax" hasnt been really good. We have had close to 25% of the batteries arriving faulty (connection break, low voltage). Another 25% of them have bloated or gone kaput after 6-10 runs or so.

But the remaining have been performing flawlessly. We have used the 2s,3s with 4500mah to 5500mah with 25c to 40c discharge.

So in the other words, if you do get lucky, nothing can beat them in sheer value.

Anwar Bhai,
My personal experience with Zipppy Filghtmax has been really bad. They do not balance Bang Head. I would recommend Turnig Lipos.

Voltz are not cheap lipos as flightmax or turnigy, They are Fairly better than most of the lipos sold by HK! what clabboy meant is that they are inexpensive compared to other big brands like hyperion etc and perform the same like the bigger brands.

For people complaining about cells not balancing, check your chargers they are the culprits! I have seen 2 to 3 chargers, the 50 watts one burning the soul of the cells slowly on each charge beacause of the way they shunt current during balancing.

I have no significant problems with the Zippy ones.  So far, lost only one due to what seems like keeping it under full charge for 4 months or so.  The others balance well, and even better with the iCharger.

The recent one I purchased are the Nano-tech ones though, that was based on the higher charge and discharge ratings though.

I am using them for almost 2 years, only onebattery out of my entire collection give me problem by slight swelling, but still works fine. I prefer them compared to Rhino, as I have couple of bad experiences with rhino.

if u say so
Huh?

From what I've heard, turnigy and Zippy are made by the same vendor and the differences are; capacity mentioned on a zippy is the maximum capacity and capacity mentioned on turnigy is the minimum capacity. Also the zippy I have says max charging current 1C and all my turnigy's say charging current 2C.

blue zippys have a old formula and do not hold volt very good

a lot of the cheap batteries faking a c rating by having bigger capacity then is marked on the label witch make them bulky and not holding volt so good in the end of the discharge

easiest way to check is to do a discharge to 3v and c how many mha is going out of the battery and back in again, from there u can set your 20% rule if u practice that 1
