In an attempt to modify my brand new Tx battery to fit my transmitter, I waa trying to remove the +ve wire from a servo type lead with a flat head screwdriver. I accidently connected the ground and vcc wires with the screwdriver because they are next to each other and there was a small spark and the wire heated up for 10 seconds as it shorted for a split second.

Is my battery okay? I hope it isn't destroyed, I have only had it for a few hours and it's my first LiPo battery!

Is your battery warm ? Has it swelled ? What is the voltage of the pack ? Is there any burning smell ?

No the battery never heated up, only the wires that shorted did. It hasn't swelled either and there is no burning smell anywhere.

It's 11.1V Turnigy 1450 MaH Tx pack.

I was testing out my new charger so I charged it for like 5 seconds, and it said 3.8V per cell. It's a brand new Tx battery that I received today, and I haven't charged it yet, so the only charge it has is whatever it came with when it was shipped from HK.

If the voltage has not dropped then its fine . Nothing wrong with your lipo , but be careful with them . If they catch fire they burn at a very high temperature.

You can , but dont forget it to bring back to its storage voltage ie 3.8 v per cell . Never keep a lipo fully charged , never discharge it bellow 3v .

I have started discharging the LiPo and all 3 cells are at 3.8V. There isn't any heat emanating from the battery, so am I lucky and safe?

Yes , to be safe dont let the voltage of your battery fall below 3.6 v (if it goes bellow 3 , it wont be good)
