Hi,

I recently bought a FJ-745 Helicopter. I enjoyed the flying with this big helicopter for four days. On fifth day i found that the battery has gone. The batter is 7.4V and 1500 mah LiPo Battery. I have searched all the rc websites for this type of battery in hyderabad location. I was not able to find the same. There are some other batteries which are having 7.4V and 1800 mah and 2200 mah and so on. Can i use these batteries for my helicopter ? And one more thing, these 1800 mah and 2200 mah lipo batteries are having 3 wires. But my battery is having only 2 wires. I am not sure, if i can purchase this battery for my helicopter or not. Please help me.

Thanks in advance.

C rating of Battery is important. 1500 and 1800 mah will hardly make the difference. But yes 2200 will be quiet heavy and big.
What three wires you are talking about? three wires is mostly for balancing charging purpose in case of 7.4V pack. the output will be 2 wire only.

KumarDesai

I think more specifically ur talking about lipo of different here, the one which ur talking about ur heli, which has two wires, black one and red one, which are attached directly to the circuit, and there are no special charging wires coming out, as we see in a typical lipo battery often used in RC,

so ur battery might looking somewhat silvery appearance, and this can be found in ipods, and other gadgets.  U can find in hyderabad hopefully in Koti, Gujrati Gali

Hi Prashant,
If it is 7.4 Volt, then definitely it will consist of two 3.7V lipo cell making it a 7.4 volt pack. then for balancing the pack, there will be three wires coming from inside the pack other then RED and BLACK. the one used in Ipod or other gadgets is mostly single cell 3.7volt cell, with very less C rating.

Hi sandeep

You r right, those batteries with low discharge rate are used gadgets, single one

I hope KumarDesai is not definitively speaking about lipos we use in RC, where they have positive (red) and negative (black) for voltage supply, and rest of three wires for 7.4 and four wires for 11.1 volts batteries
where they go into balance charger slots

please correct me if anything wrong

Regards

Hi Kumar, Can you please post the actual pic of the battery in your heli... i am sure that is a Lipo without balancer connector..if that is the case then Kumar you can use 7.4V Lipo battery which is available to you without any problem.
Another possibility is that the pack is of nimh cell, 1.2v x 6 cell, which doesn't have a balancer connector.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the delay in posting the pictures. Now you can see the battery image here.  The battery has two sockets. One socket(power input - for charging) goes into battery charger and the other one (power output) for the motors.

Yesterday i went to a local RC Shop in hyderabad and i asked for this type of battery. He said that it is not a LiPo Battery. It is Li-Fi Battery. I am just Shocked Head Scratching . But it is written on the helicopter box clearly that it is Lipo battery. Now i ran into another problem. If i purchase a lipo battery of the same specifications, can i use the current charger to charge the same or do i need to purchase the LIPO Charger also. I need to sit/talk with an expert, those who are having idea on both type ( LIPO, LIFI) of batteries. First of all i need confirmation that which type of battery i am having now. Can any body confirm which type of battery is this pelase ?

Mr. Sai :- Is this the same battery you have with you ?

I think this is not Lipo pack , these are LiIon cell pack. These cell are easily available in market specially with shop deals in telecom product and will not cost you more then 200 per cell. you can use lipo battery pack instead of this one.
check the link below:

Sandeep: Thank you sandeep, I think this is LiIon battery. I went through the URL that you have given. I found the below url which suits for my helicopter.
http://robokits.co.in/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13&products_id=71
If you see the above link, the battery has three wires...Red, black and yellow. Can i use these two Red (+) and Black (-) and can i ignore the yellow one ? If this is the case, then i can order the battery online imdtly, once you confirm.

Kumar,
You can use the red and black one without any problem, but your heli will give enough power for lift, i am not sure as these batteries doesn't have good discharge rate. you can cut open the heat shrink packing and send the marking code on each cell. the data sheet available somewhere on internet will give you exact specification of that cell. If it is near equivalent to li-po then you can buy normal lipo pack for your need.

Information sharing improves knowledge of both.

These Li-Ion cells are widely used in Handicam Battery and you may find this to nearest Handycam repaire shop (Better if this would be spare shop.).

You may get those cheaper than Robokits.

Look for cost of ESCs, Motors,9gm Servos, all highly priced. Rs15-20 Chinies motors sold at Rs50  + Postage. Rs.10/- IR LED+Rx module costs Rs 40+Postage, Rs.100 priced 12V1A SMPS costs Rs.250+Postage. +++ Lots more.

6/8 pin PICs are not available, SMD are far off to see. Congrats Toko, at least you got neo magnets & microcontrollers in smallest weight & dimension for your micro fliers.
