Wow, we throw them away here. I only threw 6 out last week 2200 3s cells because they had been kept charged but not used. They were nowhere near a puffy as these. Don't you think this is dangerous? They look extremely bloated. We would be banned from the field for using them. They are a good brand so they have been kept in a very hot environment or were aged when purchased.

I filled a plastic bucket with very salty water and left them in that for a month until they were safe to dispose of. Have I thrown 6 batteries away. They held they're charge and worked OK but I was told not to use them on the field.

What do you guys know we don't?

Even i disposed my hyperion receiver battery on finding it puffed as i forgot to disconnect it from my heli after use. Please dont use such batteries as it is very risky.

Well said Deepikarun, it worries me that people could lose their plane, their belongings, their home and of course their lives and those of a loved one. Perhaps a person from each club or group could show other lipo users exactly how these batteries react when damaged. UTube is a good start but to actually see one burn is a sight no one would forget.

Firstly the pack can begin to smoke. That smoke could fill a number of rooms very quickly. Should someone be asleep in one or more of those rooms they could quickly die from smoke inhalation. That's just from one cell. The heat from that cell would then trigger the adjoining cell to burst into flames. Not the sort of flames which can be smothered or stamped out. How many homes have a bucket of water ready to dump a burning lipo into and that's assuming you could get a hold on it to pick it up. If you had a 3s battery the remaining cell could explode and blow the burning chemicals into all parts of the room. Just consider the consequencies.

Just a careless cigarette smoker could start a small fire and if a perfectly good lipo was close by, suddenly things have escalated to a worse danger. You hobby is a pastime full of fun and satisfaction. It should never be a reason for loss and sadness. Keep your lipos in a cool dry place away from bedrooms. A bucket of water or at least a solid metal bin where a damaged lipo can be dumped if things start getting really bad. If a battery begins to puff during charging immediately pull the power plug and without touching the battery by hand pick it  up by the wirung and either get it outside immediately ensuring no children are playing there or put the battey into water and clear your house of everyone until you have things under control. Never ever leave lipos charging without supervision by a responsible person.

Please don't take gambles with your family's lives or your own. I don't write this to scare needlessly. I write it with the hope I never read on this forum that someone has been injured or worse from what is basically a well packaged bomb. An item that gives much fun but can be as dangerous as a loaded gun if treated incorrectly.

having said that, i agree, i have seen people flying puffed up lipos as long as they can fly.

Thank you Arun, and may you have many years of trouble free and fun flying. The photos I saw of a flyers house after one lipo caught fire was enough to shock me into trying to help people remember. He admitted it was his fault and he knew the dangers and yet he forgot just once and lost everything he owned except his family.
