Retreat, Hell!

Vishal from 'KineticHobbies' has kindly asked me to test a 2200mAH Haiyin LiPo battery. He has also sent a Motrolfly 1200kv BLDC and a Beatles 30A ESC.  Grin

The Haiyin battery build and packaging is of top quality. It comes with a standard XT-60 connector.

I'll soon be posting various usage statistics and test results here.

I know I'm not qualified enough to be testing anything RC, but I'm really thankful to Vishal for giving me the opportunity.  Hats Off

Retreat, Hell!

I'd like to apologise to Vishal for taking this long for posting the test results. I only fly on weekends and holidays and the weather conditions were horrible here till late July.

The 'Haiyin' pack has been used for 23 flights now. It's been kept in the refridgerator between flights. I've been using it with a low voltage alarm and it's never gone below 11 Volts.

Now it charges to a maximum voltage of 12.06 Volts. Is that okay for a 23-flights-old pack? The Turnigy 2.2 AH LiPo I used in my hovercraft charged to 12.15 Volts after 6 months of abusive use. The 1300 mAH IND-POWER LiPo I purchased around the same time as the Haiyin, charges to a max of 12.2 Volts but it's just 12 flights old.

Again, I'm really thankful to Vishal for giving me this opportunity (and the goodies  Grin ). That motrolfly motor is a bit difficult to work with at first, but once you've fixed the mounting problem, it a monster of a motor! My ESPAD3D can do crazy stuff now!

Hi,

We at our field have extensively used the haiyin 3s 2200 mah 30-40c (helis only). Hellyflyer, laxman and myself used it. Build quality is good and the packs look smaller than  zippy.
In all i had 8 packs of 3s, 5 packs of 6s lipos last year.
They balanced out really well. The chargers used were hyperion and powerlab 8. I have also used 6s 4000mah packs in gaui x5 heli.

The customer service of International haiyin rep Eric is too good. I think if ever a pack comes doa it will be replaced easily if u post a vid. I havent purchased stuff from Vishal but he does goes out of his way for customer satisfaction.

Some cons, if ur looking for hardcore 3d stuff please go.for their scorpion packs.
Charge rating was 1.5c or 2c if i remember. In some packs the IR of few individual cells was quite high.

In all good lipos and value for money. I would recommend them to a friend who is into mild 3d  n sport flyin in helis.

@Murcielago Thank you for your review. Its much appreciated  Thanks Haiyin has one of the best customer service. We check all lipos before shipping them to our customers. If any of them has any issue, we just send a snapshot to Haiyin and they replace them without any questions.

Vishal, I'd like to apologise again! Sad
The charger (skyartec) I was using with the Haiyin LiPo seems to have some problem. It charges all 3s LiPos to 12.05 Volts! I charged the Haiyin LiPo with my Turnigy charger again today and it charged to 12.42 Volts! I'm really sorry about the post with the wrong data earlier. Embarrassed

Still the values are quite low, and what are those IR for the cells.
My slightly puffed Turnigy 2200mah still goes to 12.6V on full charge after 6months of (ab)use. i always charge them at 1A(0.5C)
and after 2 days they go down to around 12.4V.
Havent used Haiyin sofar, will buy for my next multicopter project.

@Swapnil Most likely your old charger might not have balanced the Lipos properly and hence the chargers cuts off early. Do a complete discharge and balance charge on your Turnigy charger and check the max voltage. Unless the cells are highly unbalanced a good charger will most likely charge most of your lipos to a max voltage of 12.60V.

I've had 57 happy flights with the Haiyin LiPo since buying a new Imax B6 charger. The problem before that was with the cheap charger, voltmeter and my diy power supply.
The problem with my SMPS supply was that the cable from the SMPS to the charger was too long. The B6 wouldn't charge any LiPo above a rate of 1A. I shortened the cable to about 15cm and now I can charge at 5A!

I've been charging the Haiyin LiPo at 3A and it's still working great!

Was waiting to give a long term review

The battery has now done about 80 cycles, normally runs at approximately 30 +/- 5 Amps.

None of the cells show any sign of weakness, which can be easily made out both while charging, and when checking after flying ie Cell Voltage remains the same

There is slight puffing, which I figure as normal

I rate this battery pretty highly - especially compared to the HK ones

A certain amount of puffing is, in my opinion, harmless and quite normal - more so if you are using the battery at the upper end of it's rated C capacity. The individual cells's integrity should not be compromised.

Vishal, sorry for the delay, but I felt it was no use in giving a review without testing it thoroughly

Have been using 3 nos. of Haiyin 1500 MaH 3S batteries, for around 60 flights and 65 cycles now, excellent capacity and very good quality, no puffing so far. No reduction in capacity either.

The 2200 mAH one Vishal sent me has done more than 200 cycles now and is still going great. No puffing or any kind of degradation in performance! I store all my batteries below 15o C between flights to keep them healthy.

Haiyin LiPos are back in stock now:
http://www.kinetichobbies.com/lipo-batteries.html

Just for information, Haiyin gets approval from Sharma Models! Here's Vivek Sharma Sir's own words:

"Your batteries are the most reliable ones I bought from Indian sellers"

Vishal, do the Haiyin 3S 2200mAH LiPos come with a C rating of 25 or greater? If yes could you please stock them. Most of my quads need 2200mAH LiPos and 20C is just not good enough anymore.

By the way, I'd like to second Sharma sir's words. I use Haiyin LiPos in all my important projects.
The one you sent me for testing is still galloping like a stallion. There's no puffing in the slightest or any signs of decrease in performance. It's like there's alien technology inside!

It might seem like I'm exaggerating, but I do crazy extreme stuff with my quads and none of the other brands could survive it. I bought a couple of other brands around the time you sent me the Haiyin. The Wolfpack and Avionic LiPos died first. Then it was IndPower and most recently the two Turnigy LiPos.

I wish you'd stock 3s 2200mAH 25-30 C LiPos so I don't have to resort to other brands.

Further update from June 16th

The Lipo is still going strong! Crossed 110 cycles, and the only sign of age is that it now takes about 10% longer time to charge/balance completely. Goes to 4,2/4.2/4.2 still  Grin

A good quality product. None of my HK batteries ever lasted more than 60-70 cycles

Thank you so much for your kind words Swapnil Smiley You have made my day. I wish I could stock more range but unfortunately it isn't easy doing business in India where price plays a key role. I have to say with heavy heart that people care more about price than quality here. That's my experience with about little less than 2 years into this business.

@Sanjay sir Thanks a lot for taking time to write your feedback. It's much appreciated Smiley

Further update

The Lipo has crossed 180 cycles, and........... is still going strong!!! Amazing.

Only thing, it now takes a little longer to fully balance charge. When new, it took about 30 minutes, now about 45 minutes (I charge at 1 C ie 2.2 A on a 2200 mAh)

Great quality Vishal!

Only thing, it now takes a little longer to fully balance charge...

Same with mine. It's started to look a bit puffy too now. I stopped keeping track of the cycles count after it crossed 200. That was a couple of months ago. I'm currently using the Haiyin LiPo on my autonomous robot.

I bought three 500Mah during offer period from Kinetic hobbies. One puffed, ( don't know if it is due to exposure to rain-when my maiden of SLOFLY28 ended up on a very tall tree Giggle  Giggle ) and the same day we had unexpected rain Bang Head and that one (? Can't recognise) doesn't hold charge well.

I have one Turnigy 3S 4000 and one Zippy 3S 4000 that have been going strong for over a year now on my Reptile 500. I stopped counting cycles but I am certain I have crossed 100, if not 200 or more. However, the current king in terms of cycle like is the Graphene series from HobbyKing. One tester has reported well over a thousand cycles (including actual flights and charger cycles). Pity they are almost impossible to obtain (at least right now).
