Title: Which charger to choose from hobbyking?
Post by: dhruvafreak on January 09, 2013, 08:44:10 PM
I have 6 turnigy 2200mah batteries and I need a charger which can be used to charge them in parallel but confused about the contents :headscratch:
I would like to buy the products from Hobbyking so if anyone could help me will be a great relief !
What i need i think is a charger , power supply and  parallel charging board , is that all ?

yes... you can get that from a local hobby store like www.quadkopters.com :D or you can buy a similar type of product from HK

You want to make sure that the charger is capable of taking at least 6 amps of current if you want to charge all 6 batteries in parallel. and a power supply which is capable of providing 6 amps.

Ya u need a parallel charging board with either T plugs or XT 60

Get an SMPS and modify it , fairly simple mods..Will give more than 6 amps to charger.

For charger, My advice is to invest in a good one.. Reason: May be in near future u buy a 500 heli or a 550 electric heli..icharger 3010b, FMA Powerlab 8 v2 or a hyperion are the best..

If on a budget get an icharger 208b...

I use these

Works great! Parallel charging is a great option - saves a lot of time

Don't forget to buy charge/balance leads

If you want to charge batteries in parallel, take a high wattage charger...

Icharger 306b or i charger 3010b....with a modified SMPS (350 rs or max 450 ) as a power supply....

Also, take a look on Turnigy Quattro...

icharger 106b and turnigy accucell wont be able to handle 6s cells but ok for 3s

as long as the power/amp requirement is not violated - it should be fine.
I charge 2 x 6s packs @ 1.8A on accucel-8

OP, if you have higher budget definitely go for more powerful ones

Honestly, Do a google search and you will get review on each n every charger on HK.

Whle doing an SMPS modification, do not touch the capacitors...

The green and black wire are to be joined so as to switch on the SMPS. And, the yellow wires will be ur positive terminal.

If there is a change in colour coding of the wires please check the pin diagram before.

If you are not really strict about ordering from HK, then you can check the IMAX B6 Pro at RC Timer. At 30$ including shipping, it's a nice deal. Shipping is fast too. My last order reached me in 11 days (I had opted for shipping with tracking at 2$ extra).
