Title: A 'MUST BUILD' Floater
Post by: VC on February 10, 2014, 09:59:36 PM
This seems to be a perfect Floater for all those who are wanting to get into RC flying. The only catch is that you will need some 6 or 8 mm Depron/Bio foam/Foamcore.

One question for the experts - if I were to angle the vertical tails outwards at 30 degrees (purely for aesthetic purposes), how would it affect the flying characteristics of this model? Compare the vertcal tail formation of the F15 Eagle with the F18 Hornet and you will know what I mean.

Regards.

Very simple and easy. Nice build. apart from that the dog chasing the plane is superb..  8-)

VC
cantered fins improves lateral stabilty while retaining all goodness of directional stability, you could reduce dihedral with cantered fin (Look at it like an extreme dihedral wing)

The best part of this forum is that when you need help, more often than not, it comes from EXACTLY the persons you need it from.

Thanks Captain.

Seen the plan. Found not in scale and with lot of Angle measurements for cutting.
Wanted to test my AUTOCAD skills after longtime. Took 20 minutes to draw.
Attached full scale pdf.
Anyone needs change in scale feel free to request

Laid the items in different orientation to reduce number of pages (20 pages to 16 Pages of A4).
Scale and print the drawing in Reply#7 in A4 size for reference.
Use this pdf to print in full scale in tiled pages

Both PDFs are full scale 1:1. In the second pdf the items were rotated to fit in small size paper resulting to reduction in number of tiled pages.

This wing is not dihedral in this plane. Will it make more difficult to fly?
