It says "robotics".  Not exactly something with a focus on flying RC planes/helis or racing RC cars/boats, right ?

right sir, but aeromodelling is also kind of robotics.
and it put emphasis on aeromodelling

Well NO....
Aeromodelling is not robotics.
You can safely say UAV is a flying ROBOT, But not aeromodels are Robots.

If you are interested in Flying Robots then search for paparazzi project IIRC.

Well NO....
Aeromodelling is not robotics.

May be that is true if you are talking of static models. I was thinking RC models of any kind were remotely controlled robots.

Izmile, Aeromodelling is not only RC controlled, You can have free flight models, control lines too. ;D

Again all RC controlled device are not robos (eg TV)  :D

Ok Ok some serious things.
ROBOTs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot)
http://www.robotstoreuk.com/ROBOT%20PAGES/Robot%20definition-1.htm (http://www.robotstoreuk.com/ROBOT%20PAGES/Robot%20definition-1.htm)
says a telerobo variant which needs human intervention, in this category RC models may go.

 :P

yes, everyone is right and everyone is wrong  ;)
a robot cannot be defined in the limits of words..
aeromdoelling can be robotics and also cannot be depending on how you are taking it,
if aromodelling is not a robot then a humanoid is also not a robot, both can be RC
although tv is a robot if you are referring the definition which describes so,
A robot can be anything and can be nothing.
Just it depends on the way expressing.

we can have a long discussion on it .. ;)

I know that this post has i in a dry state for a long time now

But to differentiate it properly in layman's terms
Pure robotics deals with arms,manipulators,A.I.,emotions,computers (And  i should say this not the place for it) :'(

;D  but then there is a small part of robotics where servos, motors,PIC's etc.. are included
that's where many people like me come in to play.
that's the part which is the most versatile.

Pure robotics and aeromodelling have nothing in common :headscratch:

But both are very near to each other
Pure Robotics is extreme brains while aeromodelling is idiotic compared to it.(now please .. i know this stmt can invoke controversy please take it in the lightest means possible)
But then since both are near they overlap each others areas then you can fly a robot or a plane can become intelligent
That's the point where Aeromodelling and robotics meet not that much brains but clever mind

So please don't try to separate each other or join each other let them be what they are.  But i can assure that people both in robotics and aeromodelling are looking for fun  while pure robotics becomes serious.

@ anwar : i would say finally that please include a Category robotics which supports normal robotics and not PURE
because this is the most active forum i have come across and that special catgory both sides can have lot of info to
be shared especially from aeromodelling to robotics. here people know lot more about servo's and motors.

Anwar Sahab, though in contradiction to the name RCINDIA.org, would it be possible to accommodate a new subsection named Gliders and Free Flight and other Non RC models? Just a suggestion.
