2.)i want to put a request for everyone,as i have no flying experience before,so any one in mumbai is free who can help me in my first flight,i know i will crash the plane in my first flight and i dont want that,so anyone from mumbai please help,i can bring the plane to your preferred location? plz help, i live in vasai,so anyone from mumbai or thane
3.)third one is i am making plane using 5mm depron so it will need reinforcement so will the transparent tape with bigger width work?

hey Arjun,

I would suggest do not proceed with this build....this model needs some flying experience.

I recommend to build a flite test tiny trainer .....pretty simple n easy to fly.

first learn to fly then you can build wings....

good luck

One step at a time :)

+1 madaquif
I have had the Ft Versa wing (An easy to fly wing but it's not easy enough for a noobie)
Its too difficult to fly even as a 3rd plane.
Go for a old fogey/ Ft explorer or a tiny trainer.
If you wish to go forward with this build and crash (5-6 seconds after the throw) then go with the pusher version.
The tractor version is simply not good enough.

Hie Arjun,
I have built the versa wing 6 month back and it was my first flying wing experience. I am good in flying and wanted to expand into the  wings category so i built one. I tried both the pusher and puller version of Versa wing these are my observation.

1. With the pusher setup, and with design of the wing, I found that the wing becomes very tail heavy if you are using a 24 or 28 series motor and 1400 mah battery. I had to add severe nose weight to balance the aircraft. But adding weight to the aircraft is never a good option so I expanded the front by 4-5 inch(sort of a rectangular section coming out of the wing) and put the battery there after which I had no problem of CG. Though even if you manage to properly balance the Wing, its very difficult to fly it. As it has to be flown in elevon configuration, you need to be aware about the proper banking angle and also have some experience of tracking orientation of aircraft. as it is a wing lot of time it becomes confusing.
2. In the puller, configuration the wing flies better will also perform better. The battery position will comes just under the CG point though I would advise to calculate the CG point of the aircraft with online CG calculators. The wings glides extremely well. Later I fitted a RS 22 series EMAX motor with a 5045 prop on the wing and the performance was a thunder.

As far as my advise, if youre using wing for FPV purpose, then only use a pusher config else puller config will work better. and considering that you  are new to flying. I would not recommend you to build  a wing for a first time flying experience. you can save this build for future but for start go with easy FT build like OLD FOGGY and FT Explorer  Smiley

Thank you each and everyone for your useful suggestions Bow
But the problem now is I have built the versa wing almost
I have nearly completed the plane but cannot fly it,dont know what to do now? Huh?
As I liked wings very much and wings were the reason I entered into RC I decided on to building a wing
I have ran out of foam sheets and have only 1 left with me so I don't think old fogey or explorer or trainer  would be possible and buying foam sheets in Mumbai is very difficult as we have to bring it from masjid bandar and I live in vasai,and I have spent my whole pocket money on RC,so low on budgets now
I have practised flying planes in RC Android simulators but I think it is not inhalf
And I have to leave for my hostels in ratnagiri on 2nd Sept at 11pm,now I'm totally confused what to do now?
I thought I would complete my wing before that and test it's first flight, by 2nd
Confused Huh?
HELP,HELP

I have to build something and show it to my parents
So I think ft nut ball would be good choice,
It is fitting good into all my problems,it will be made in only 1 sheet foam, and easy to build and will help in practising flying
On the other hand there is ft Delta wing and even it is easy and one sheet build
Ft nut ball is with only rudder and elevator whereas ft Delta wing is with only ailerons
So people plz suggest
I have stopped the ft versa wing build

Don't go for nutball it uses light weight components. E.g. it uses 500mah battery and the one you have is quite heavy.

Tell me the dimensions of the wing you have already built. Wingspan and chord length.

I was thinking of converting it to trainer type by adding fuselage , rudder and elevator. Keeping the wing same. Try making fuselage using 10mm thermocol or use a simple stick.
All these things will add weight.
Also your electronics are quite heavy.
Still looking at the wingspan, wing loading will be too much.

@ swapnilnimbalkar
I don't think you idea will work.
Rudders on flying wing are ineffective.
In addition, that airfoil is meant for higher speeds.
The stall speed would be much more faster than that desirable for a beginner.
Why dosent Arjun go for an explorer? his battery is matching to that required for the explorer.
Trying to save depron?
Well if you go forward with the wing, you will waste what you have worked hard for.

Ya actually he has no depron left. To get it he'll have to travel for like 3-4 hrs. So he isn't saving but using whatever is left.
I think he will just have to buy a thermocol sheet to try it out.
The wing must have ailerons for turning
You are correct though , it will be quite fast for a beginner.

Let me explain with example(s);
If you wish to become a real life jumbo jet pilot;
You don't go straight to flying it.
You first get your licenses on smaller planes and learn the ropes until you are qualified to fly jumbo jet.
Another example,
I got into the hobby as I wanted to build a 72" illusin 76.
What I found out was I need to learn to fly properly first.
I am still learning since 3 years. I haven't have had the courage to take on a Rc airliner even though budget is not an issue.
Similarly, you need to learn to fly on basic 3 channels or simple 4 channels first. (Strictly high wingers with ample dihedral) before taking on FPV, Wings, Airliners, Jets etc.....

@prabal276
@swapnilnimbalkar
Thank you both for helping
But now I think the only option im left with is to complete the wing and keep it aside until I learn flying
And move on to build a trainer first and learn to fly,i will return back to home in Diwali, from my hostel, and until then wing will rest in a corner,in Diwali I will build a trainer and learn to fly and then maybe I can fly the wing
But I will try to build trainer before Diwali and learn flying before diwali,
Thank you once again each and everyone on this thread for putting efforts in helping
