Hi Team,

I am planning to by few items from Hobby city. Require your suggestions regarding them, as i cannot figure out the best choices.  I have been in rc for about 2 years. I have a broken 2 ch seagull, and 3 channel Biplane , Both have been crashed in their 4 flight. Now been playing with Simulator in my pc.

Now this is my wishlist.

Complete Kit:
-------------

1) Easy Fly RTF Glider EPO                                                     3500.00   rs
2) Hobby King 2.4Ghz 6Ch Tx & Rx (Mode 2)                             1650.00   rs
3) Turnigy 1800mAh 2S 20C Lipo Pack                                       450.00   rs
4) Turnigy 2S 3S Balance Charger. Direct 110/240v Input              600.00  rs

5) Hobby King 2.4Ghz 6Ch Tx USB Cable                                     150.00  rs
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Grand Total:                                                                     6365.00 **
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

** Postage Not Included - Going to be 2 separate parcels. 1) EMS 2) Registered Airpost.

My Questions:

Battery:
--------
1) For the Glider suggested battery was between (1000-1800 mah) , i have settled for 1800 mah is that correct?
1) What does "2S" indicate in the LIPO battery specification?  Head Scratching
2) What is the charger specification that i should be purchasing for the above battery (1800 mah)?

Battery Chargers link:
http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_listCategoriesAndProducts.asp?catname=Battery+Chargers&idCategory=216&ParentCat=85

Propellar:
1) They have mentioned that propellar diameter is 256mm in one of the review by an user. If that be
the case, which propellar set specification should i look out for ? They have mentioned all their propellers in Diameter and Pitch !!

Please post your answers as well if you have some Suggestions for the above combo !

Well from what I see from the specifications 11.1 Volts is 3S. That means there are 3 X 3.7 volts lipos in series. I do not know why the site mentions 2S at the ending of the battery specification. Reading from the reviews everybody seems to be using 3S lipos, So here are the answers:

1)I think you need to upgrade to 3S 1800 mah battery.

2)2S usually means 3.7 X 2 = 7.4 Volts. Probably its a typo on the site. Head Scratching

3)Any 2S - 3S Balance charger will do. But depending on the charging current it may take more or less time to charge. But make sure its a balance charger only.

4)The propeller seems to be included in the kit. Not sure though. Chat with their customer support and they will tell you if its there.

Also if you are buying a direct 110/240v charger then you cant charge the lipos on the field. You need to find a 220 v power source every time you need to charge.

Also some advise regarding shipping - EMS may reach you by 5 days and Registered air parcel will take you anywhere between 25 to 40 days to reach. Since your inventory is small, y not ship everything in EMS?

If shipping charges are not your concern you can order these instead of the direct 110/220 v charger for few more USD. so that you can field charge.

http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7637&Product_Name=Turnigy_balancer_&_Charger_2S-3S

Beware, since the box is big, you might end up paying some duty. I am absolutely not sure how much. If you are lucky you may end up not paying any customs at all.

Well since I am a beginner to this, you will want to wait for some expert advises from others.

Hobby King 2.4Ghz 6Ch Tx & Rx (Mode 2)

Normally I would not comment on this thread  as it is a question of clash of interest .

I hope you are aware that for this radio even Servo reversal has to be done  on a computer  like all other programing , I use it  regularly and have no problem except that I need to carry my LAP top to the field when I use this radio as any changes to the  plane set up apart from trims  need the use of  a computer .
The reason I commented here is that I am possibly  one of the few  in India using this radio  hence thought I should inform you  as I assume looking at your post that you might not be aware of this.

Further the price you have indicated  are direct dollar conversions , these present a far from true picture  as the shipping element for large parcels  like the kit , radio etc  are significant and need to be taken into account .

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

If you calculate the true landed cost of this is comparable to what you will spend in getting similar items locally (even assuming you get lucky with customs, which is becoming difficult by the day for larger items like a full ARF plane or a radio).

I would strongly recommend that you investigate local options before proceeding with this.

When you check out, hobby king ask if you want to send it as gift. Select it as Gift and declare the value 20$.
This way you won't have to pay the customs as thr is no customs on gift.

WHAT Shocked I regularly import stuff from all over the world to canada and simple gift trick bypass the customs. Even 600$ E-Revo. India sure is progressing.
Ok, thr is one more way, try import the stuff instead to your house to a commercial place like bank or office. My friend work in multinational company and I send stuff to him at his office address.
I sent my an phone declared full value but sent as gift. He didn't paid any customs.

What man .. I myself work in MNC located in SEZ and even I had this piped dream. But then when I ordrred from Towers, I had enough trouble with customs.

But again, yesterday I received my Reflex XTR cable from Chinese e-bay seller (No LHS has this XTR cable - FMS yes, but not XTR) without paying any charges. The seller put the cable in a bubble wrap envelope of size little bigger than CD envelope. It was shipped using cheapest post and took just 2 week to reach my hands.

The moral of the story -you have to lucky enough to have your package pass unnoticed by customs. Geographic location/mood of the official have worked for many people. With me, either it was small value or small package size which helped.

Lately I have realized that barring HK/HC, I have found the most reputed LHS offering almost same price for most of the items (Radio/ARF/Glow Engines etc). If something is available at LHS even for 10-15% costlier than West (including shipping + customs) its better to go to LHS for so many reasons like supports, wait time , customs hassle etc. If you are very particular about an item brand/model which is not available at any LHS  or has indefinite stock up dates, only then venture into ordering online.

Like I am eagerly waiting for RcDhamaka to stock up J3 Piper Cub/Bird Dog EP ARF, which at Rs 3500 is a better alternative than hassle of trying my luck importing from HK/HC.

Thank you Team,

For sharing your thought. still i can't resist dreaming about the Glider that i mentioned.

1) Do we have anybody selling such Electric Gliders in India ? I am ready to buy them.

2) Do we have somebody who would import it on request ?

I would always look out for local suppliers, only when such things are not available , then i look out of india.

We have glider , Fiber Glass and Balsa wing type and Multiplex Easy Star  which by the way is one of the best trainers in the world .

As for the Easy Fly  and similar products the shipment cost is a factor that cannot be ignored  check this out :
