Title: First Experience with a Rc Plane build and Flying.
Post by: avinvarghese on May 02, 2014, 08:12:56 PM
First plane i decided to build was Axon FPV due to it's simplicity. Although my first flight was a failure, Here are some of it photos and video. I would like to get your valuable comments so that i can resolve my errors.

Nice place to fly.i wish we had such a place in chennai.
Seems like there is nothing upfront in the nose, should be tail heavy. also the wing is bend downwards like a inverted dihedral.

If CG is correct, then you need a better hand launch.

When i checked Center of Gravity it was correct. I thing it was a problem with my hand launch and slight wind from side.

You looking fully concentrated on the hand-launch (aircraft). Just wonder what the throttle and elevator setting at the time of launch was ?

Use a small silk streamer to see wind direction, then launch directly into the wind with wings levels and 20 degree angle but not with 100% throttle to avoid torque roll.  Try 75% throttkle.  Even better is to a power off hand launch glide test over soft grass to check if the rolling tendency is there.  If it still rolls, trim with ailerons.

Avin, wonderful bright boy (your son?), lovely smile for a lovely picture

The glide test will be very useful...

I have tried the model, it was way tail heavy. I was also failed to launch it.
few sujjestions

1-  As said above make the wings strait.
2-  Check the Cg.
3-  Adjust the motor mount to slight right and 2-3 degree up ( seen from backward. tail towards you.)
4-  Glide test.
5-  Lauch at 60-65 % throttle,at 45 angle.
6-  As it is your first experience , choose a less windy day.
