Title: First time buying/building RC
Post by: R0han on May 26, 2013, 05:13:01 PM
Hello,
I have experience with RC helis and cars. I also like RC planes but never had one ...
so i am thinking of buying / building a plane.
I want to build a  P-51D Mustang ( http://www.rcbazaar.com/products/1044-p-51d-mustang-17-span.aspx )
What components are included in the box and what are the things that i need to buy ???

Also how does it fly ???
Is there any other model in the same price range, better than it ??

Would be building plane from scratch be better ???

Welcome to RC India :)

You just have to spend a solid 16 hours searching and reading on this forum. All of this has been answered before.

Rohan, 'beginner' is the keyword for you mate......and P-51D mustang ain't a good choice for a first time rc pilot.....go for planes like easystar, blue baby, piper cub, cessna-180 etc, these are called trainer models.....google 'em

hey hey
I have experience with flying RC planes. I have flown many but they were not mine.  I lack the experience of building one from the kit /scratch.  All the planes that I had flown were my friend's and were already built.

Great,  so you are an expert. I think P51 would be too easy for you  :) Go for something more advanced like this

Sanjay sir, don't be so.
Anyone who can build/fly a radio controlled 17 inch P51 is to be lauded.
Especially in Rs700.

sure just give me enough money to buy it ;)

another question is building my own build (based on plans available) be better???

is it that important to have a trainer???

It is not essential to have a trainer; depends on your flying skills, and how confident you are with them

It's always a good idea to build your own, but DO use a proven design the first time

Maybe you could select an intermediate model?

Good luck, and all the best!

Thank You for your support  :)
Can u suggest some good designs ??
I was thinking of Pylon Racer by Mikeys' RC ( http://mikeysrc.com/Pylon_Racer.html )

Pylon Racers are designed for speed, speed and more speed ;D

Better to go with a sports model, where you could try the whole gamut of aerobatics, loops, rolls, and pattern flying.

I saw this on the site you suggested : http://mikeysrc.com/Sport-Trainer.html

You could always build the Pylon Racer as your next model

Rudder is good for landings, and essential for advanced aerobatics
