Check if the tip of the gun is touching the depron...

No sir the glue itself melts the depron.

The depron is 5mm depron.

I think once the gun heats up I should cut the power supply and then use the gun . Will that be fine ??

What is the wattage?
Seems to be too high!

The wattage is 80 W.

Which glue do you use while working with depron? If hot glue what's the wattage of your gun ?

I used my 40W glue gun on depron.
I don't work with depron anymore.
To me, 80w seems to high.
Anyone, correct me if I am wrong.
Once my 40w glue gun leaked on my hand, I got blisters full of pus and second degree burns.

Just checked my gun.
It’s 40 watts.
Meanwhile try some different glue stick. Some are transparent, others are white. About Rs 10-15 each.

@ K K Iyer
Sir,
I don't think it's the glue stick to blame.
It's the wattage that's to be blamed.
@ knvshrm
Are you sure it's depron and not any other type of foam?
Maybe the foam's at fault.

It's depron/biofoam.

My reason for saying that wattage is at fault is as follows:
I tried to build a plane from thermocole 2-3 years back. The thermocole melted with my 40w hot glue gun.
It was however okay when the gun had been switched off for 10-20 seconds.
Maybe the same goes for depron.
It can handle 40-50 watts but not 80watts.

You could try epoxy. Its a good alternative. Plus, its stronger than hot glue. I use Araldite.

Yup...but it takes time to set too.

Best solution is to Use 5min epoxy.
Example:  http://www.resinova.com/index.php/products/construction-chemicals/149-bondtite-fast-clear

You can also use CA glue but you have to cover the depron with tape or polyurethane coat.

@ knvshrm has to build a whole plane! Not attach parts to it. ;D
Epoxy is expensive!
Epoxy make the joint brittle. No scope for flexing during a crash. So your whole plane is gone.
And finally, to conclude, Epoxy is higher density. You use extra weight to make the same joint. About 5 grams go extra per tube of epoxy as compared to hot glue sticks [1 glue stick= 8gms while 1 pack of epoxy=13 GM's] while you use almost the same volume

Yes, epoxy is very expensive. I spent more than 250₹ on my first plane just for epoxy. I didn't even use epoxy that much but it's very expensive. I ended up crashing that plane because it was very poorly built and my skills were close to non-existent. Do yourself a favour and avoid epoxy. Shut down your gun for 10-20 seconds and use. You'll face no problems. Usually, guns that powerful have a variable temperature setting.

Hi. Finally it is time to quit using Hotglue on our foam models(also on balsa). Our legendary Fevicol has released their own product based on polyurethane which is named as fevicol xpers, It may be depron or any foam kind this adhesive bonds the foam no matter what, it is absolutely "foam safe" too because it does not contain Acetone or cyanoacrylate which eats foam. i have made 2 models with it, this is 10x times more stronger than hotglue and impossible to separate the glue joint once bonded between the foam. Fevicol xpres is an best alternative to gorilla glue where 60 gram is sold for 800rs in amazon.in fevicol xpres is sold just for 500rs-500gram. There is no better PU glue in Indian market than xpres. hope everyone will use this glue on their future builds. bonding time is 15min yeah you need to wait. but it is totally worth waiting for the bonding time. the glue also fills any gap between the joints as it expands while drying. This is for sure the best alternative for hotglue because it does not damage your depron foam at the same time the weight of the hotglue on your model is totally eliminated. This glue is also perfect for balsa build.
