The most important thing is to gain speed and keep the plane level. Do not try to give too much elevator and climb, try to gain speed going level. Open full throttle. The blast from the prop will give more authority to elevator and rudder than what you were having when you were gliding, be prepared for it, that is why it is important not to yank the elevator. If you were holding up elevator to hold the high alpha for landing, you might actually need to ease off the elevator.

The best is of course to avoid getting into it. Stall behavior is one of the things you should check out high up during the maiden flight after getting it trimmed. Have a feel for the stall speed and err on the high side during landing.

And there is one more situation and action you need to know.

If you know you are going down for sure, your reflex should be to cut throttle and have the prop not spinning during impact.  Especially if you are real low, this can actually save the plane (and is even more important in the case of helis, where the props/blades are much larger).

I know the question was not "how to crash with minimal damage" ;D  yet it is helpful.

First.. if you have altitude nose down to gain speed... or if not try throttling up if you can to gain airspeed... If not reduce throttle fully and wait for minimal impact!! OUCH!! Dont ask me how I know!!  ;D  ;D
