Hi everyone,
I am going to build my first quadcopter(f450 frame) in some time, i was initially going to use kk 2.1.5 but some forums suggested apm 2.8 over it and now i am confused in what to go for. Would appreciate any inputs you all have regarding this.(I am comfortable with computers so complexity in initial setup is not an issue)

Hi Silverwarrior
Welcome to the forum!

The Apm 2.8 would be a better flight controller to go with. On the other hand you can even go with the DJI naza m lite.

The main question you got to ask yourself is what do i expect the drone to do? Do you just want to fly around? Do you want to do autonomous flight?

For now i am just aiming to get one in the sky and eventually I plan on adding a camera for cinematic flying. The naza m lite is a little out of my budget for now. I am buying a kit rather than all the parts separately so the choice was between kk 2.1.5 and apm 2.8, i should go for the apm 2.8 right ?

Well not yet!
Since you said this is gonna be your first quad, I would definitely recommend the DJI naza. Its a much better controller to start with, it will build your confidence.
Also can you share the link for the Kit?
Just want to see if it bang for buck.

It's not really bang for buck, since this would be my first time, i wanted all parts to come together so that if there is some issue the return deadline wouldn't pass in waiting for other parts. Although i would definitely appreciate itif you could suggest a better way of doing it.

Thanks for sharing the link!
Try with robu

I know this kit is out of stock but the items in this kit (motor and escs) are of far better quality then the one you shared. You can individually buy the parts from the list as well from their website.

Thankyou so much for this. The kit at this price point is probably a steal, i'll contact them and see when the it will be available.
I had one more question, since this quad would weigh around 1kg, do i need to register it on digitalsky according to the new drone laws?
