Hi All,

I am new to this forum and Rc world too...

I am building my own model(beginner model).

Last week when I went for Test fly, I hit my throttle high for hand launch but  my motor got stopped in the high throttle and when I reduce  the throttle it will work fine.

Many times I tested and finally smoke came from motor and ESC with some lead smell

Can anyone help me what went wrong?

Please find my specification which I attached  as photo.

Hi,
Welcome to this forum.

Looks like your motor, battery, Esc and prop are correctly matched.
In the normal course there should not have been any problem.

Other possible issues are:
1. Did you by any chance use a much larger prop?
2. Did you calibrate the throttle?
3. Did the motor ingest any dirt?
4. Was the motor smooth if spun by hand without power, or did it feel like the bearings were bad or the rotor was touching the magnets in some places?
5. Did the motor and Esc have access to cooling airflow or not?

Can you post pics of the setup as they were when you had the problem?

Also, does it still run at low throttle, or is it dead?
Regards

"Many times I tested and finally smoke came from motor and ESC with some lead smell"
Could you elaborate? Are you sure both motor and ESC are burnt? Which prop did you use - not clear from the picture

1. Did you by any chance use a much larger prop?- I only used 6x3E
2. Did you calibrate the throttle?-I didnt calibrate before i used....after i smoke came just google and found we need to calibrate can u tell the steps
3. Did the motor ingest any dirt?I also have the  same doubt as many times i didnt hand launch and it got landed in ground[/color]
4. Was the motor smooth if spun by hand without power, or did it feel like the bearings were bad or the rotor was touching the magnets in some places?-its not spining like old Sad

5. Did the motor and Esc have access to cooling airflow or not?-yes

Also, does it still run at low throttle, or is it dead?--when smoke came i testes it was working but i am afraid to plugin again as it may damage my lipo/lipo catch fire

Throttle calibration
Turn on Tx. Move throttle stick to full.
Connect battery to Rx.
Wait for a long beep indicating that Esc has understood full throttle position.
Lower throttle stick to idle.
Wait for a long beep indicating that Esc has understood idle throttle position.
Switch off Rx and then Tx.

Power up Tx, then Rx, with throttle stick in idle.
Test motor by opening throttle a little at a time.
Best of luck. Hope your motor and Esc didn't die...

Are the bullet connectors between ESC and motor soldered correctly? A bad joint can increase current draw and ultimately burn the ESC.

Just don't buy wolfpack/avionic shit.
Their escs, servos suck. Motors are decent.

@kiran rc,
Bad joint increases resistance? Or current draw?

yes
Will it spoil my battery...
no

Will not draw any current if throttle is at low while connecting.
Get a helper to disconnect if any sign of smoke etc.

Your Motor is still OK. Do not connect again or your motor will burn too. Use 30Amp esc. Regards

@KK Iyer
Sir, I was referring to the back emf of the Esc. If one of the connectors is bad,  then Esc might send pulses at wrong time and hence cause twitches. This can draw a large amount of current and generate a lot of heat.
