Title: Mr MOSS the great Value Beginners plane
Post by: rcforall on March 13, 2009, 06:57:41 PM
Hi ,
We have  developed a glider as the first beginners RC Plane it is based on the IIT Tech Fest 2009 winning Glider Mr MOSS.
Here are the links to this Glider at our E bay shop  :
1) http://cgi.ebay.in/RCFORALL-MR-MOSS-GLIDER-BRUSHLESS-BEGINNERS-COMBO_W0QQitemZ110362947515QQihZ001QQcategoryZ2563QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 (http://cgi.ebay.in/RCFORALL-MR-MOSS-GLIDER-BRUSHLESS-BEGINNERS-COMBO_W0QQitemZ110362947515QQihZ001QQcategoryZ2563QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262)
2) http://cgi.ebay.in/RCFORALL-MR-MOSS-GLIDER-BRUSHLESS-BEGINNERS-RTF_W0QQitemZ150331948788QQihZ005QQcategoryZ2563QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 (http://cgi.ebay.in/RCFORALL-MR-MOSS-GLIDER-BRUSHLESS-BEGINNERS-RTF_W0QQitemZ150331948788QQihZ005QQcategoryZ2563QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262)

These planes are suitable for beginners as they offer the following advantages :

1) Close to unbreakable Air frame the only things breakable in these planes are the motor Mount and the props hence give the beginner tremendous confidence as damages are minimal
2) 3 channel rudder/elevator with throttle give very good handling
3) Super simple building nothing complicated
4) Repairs and rebuild can be done by just about anybody with basic skills.

Check the VDO as well
Very economical considering the kit includes a full brushless set up, servos , battery , charger etc.

Rajesh Rao ( rajsigma ) got the Mr MOSS glider from us and made a wing and tail feathers for it himself .
Here is a very colorful version of mr MOSS.
This is another way you could be creative in making your own glider

Some one should start a thread about using sign/flex boards as building material in the "Materials" forum !   {:)}    How does one cut it cleanly, bend it if needed etc ?

Hi Rajesh ,
You mean the whole flying was the first time and you managed 4-5 circuits and landed in 1 piece except for the prop damage . 8)

A VERY VERY BIG CONGRATS IN THAT CASE   {:)} {:)} {:)}

Its not so easy to fly for the first time!.. A big appalause...  {:)}

If you have done it without simulator experience then here is one more round of appalause..  {:)} {:)} And,... you must be a natural pilot! Some people have done that...

Congrats Rajesh !  {:)}

Obviously I have the same question.  How many hours would you say you have spent on the sim to get your orientations right, before you first real flight ?  :)

Hai,
In april 2008 i get one engine based trainer plane with help of my friend and start to learn with sim. One fine day i fly with my friend and crashed it. My friend rebuild plane for me. One bad day i fly the plane,plane go long and invisible and crash in forest. I cant get the plane even today. I met Mr.ASHTA in bangalore last sep 2008 and get good information about electric plane. He tell me to contact Mr.SAI. I contact SAI and get one Mr Moss plane.In my free time i play with sim.Two pics of my lost plane.

Well...  looks like you are on the right path now (even though you started off on a wrong foot), so keep up the slow and steady pace.

Wish you all the best and safe touchdowns  :)

Sahevaan ,
Mr MOSS is a plane created on the MISS platform by Saju and me.
It is a SPAD
Fuse : Slow Stick Fiber glass fuse stick
Wing and Tail feathers : CORO
Power system : RCFORALL DY 2204 motor COMBO with 8040 Prop ( prop saver )
Servos : 2 x 9 gms
Lipo Battery : 7.4V 850 mah
LIPO Charger : 2-3 cell turborix Charger
OPTIONAL : W Fly/ Turborix : Radio

The Mr MOSS glider that won IIT sp4mm3r was created  to practice spot landing for the competition so its AUW is around 300 gms.
The design also ensured that the damage was minimum in case of a nose hit as it had to survive many hard landings during the practice.

So the only part really breakable in case of even a direct nose hit  is the propeller.

Rgds
Sai

 :o :o :o
It must have taken quite  some banging to tear Coro like that across the flutes  :headscratch:
But that is the beauty of Coro no other material could have survived such  a beating  {:)}

You sure can use it  take a small  strip of coro and join the torn portion  under the fuse tube  using Cyno , once you link those then the rest can be stuck with  preferably fiber tape .

Kamaraj
You are going right , just want to tell u that, keep the vibration away with the moss. it is the killer for this beauty.
Specially mount the motor in best way to avoid vibrations.
Correct the CG and i am sure it will fly good.
If need nay help with this one , will all help you.

The carbon tube is toooooo thin for providing any structural support(as the main fuse)
You should use >10mm rods
