Title: My Beginner plane and flying experience.
Post by: kvedula_1995 on January 30, 2019, 03:01:24 PM
Hello forum,

It seems like my journey with the plane has begun and yesterday the model was fully built, now as a newbie my hunger was to get to the field somehow and take that bird out on the air, the plane wasn't ready in any sense, to be honest I somehow see to it that flaps are adjusted, I am taking a wild guess that even push rods I used were not efficient enough to make the deflection necessary to maneuver.

So to sum it my plane flew like 10 meters straight and after that it made a wild crash banking to the right, attaching my picture in the thread as well, it seems like the polyhedral wing had to do with some banking problem and the less efficient push rods.

I need help with the weight the whole model is around 600-650gm, as the weight meter display is not clear in the picture, the motor I am using is readytosky one and the propeller I am using is 5x3 in dimension and 2300kv, though I have a 6 x 4.5 prop as well.

Are things going well?

Regards
Kaushik

Edit: Motor size and props

A little more specifications? And a few closeup pictures are appreciated......
And is that a NAZI Swastika?  ;D
Not rebuilding the Luftwaffe, are we? ;D

Specially the kV.
Here's a tip: to make your build look better use white packaging tape.

Haha, whoopsy I don't know whether this forum is a politically neutral one or not, but I often get banned to express my political view on other forums, so I guess I will keep it neutral, apart from that we as Indians shouldn't be ashamed to use Swastika because it was an emblem of pride honour and Natural symphony before Nietzsche even existed.

My phone isn't working, I will soon borrow the phone from a friend, and will upload more, though I have embedded the video and those are the plans I am basing my model with, so I guess you will have a pretty wild guess about it.

I have already updated the post with the Kv necessary and the prop sizes as well, and thanks for the tip, there are some problem with polyhedral side wings which need more work to make it stable, after that I will apply your idea  :)

I guess battery is 3s so on 5×3 not much thrust go for 5×4.5×3,  or 5×4×3.
Material?
Just use 6×4.5. would be good.

different swastika's different meaning

nazi swastika opposite of Hindu swastika

Same direction but there is a displacement, see I can't just pushover fuselage.

Depron for wings, and hard imported sunboard for fuselage and rudder, until? Let me guess the polyhedral wings weren't in order?

@kvedula, i didn't even make it 3 channel, i made the sport wing. i actually crashed it full throttle into a pole.
Applied tape and then hanged it on the wall. if you ask me i will say make the sport wing.

did you make fuselage like it is shown in the video, peeling everything except the last layer and then making the a or b fold?
did you double the layer of sunboard on the tail? you know having only one layer with strips in one direction makes it flimsy, it starts to fold.

use a proper prop with no thrust angle, the sport wing and a 3s battery then go fly.

Don't follow all instructions, do it in the way that it is the best for you.

Actually, for the second flight, I will go for paper coating, though I am not sure will it hold the strength in mid-flight, but most probably it will because in the video it did, apart from that about the B shape I am not really sure what you are trying to convey here, I did exactly what the video said me to do.

Ok, so I guess 6 x 4.5 is good here because those are the only props available with me.

Update on the situation, to bring down the plane weight to 400 gm I have replaced the whole body with Depron, any beginner guys reading this, don't fricking use sunboard unless you are planning on a large scale motor, its too heavy and will make your plane fly like a mosquito and you will crash within 5 sec of flight.

After rebuilding I have successfully flew it with good success well not for long, after flying a round trip of area of 500m2 I just panicked and didn't wanted to lose electronics and crashed it while trying to land.

Fixed the whole body with Depron again, followed by another crash, because too much wind that day and wind is bad for beginners as well, too much sensitive rudder movement will make your plane nose down in seconds, this time wing took a hit, and the whole frontal body got rekt like a truck crash in NH, have to rebuild the whole fuselage now.  :headscratch:

Sorry for no videos, can't handle hand takeoff and everything by myself.
Ordered a tripod and Deprons 10pcs from Vortex lol.
