By today's standards and my understanding-
SBec- switching bec, part of esc.
Ubec- universal switching bec, standalone bec.

There's no nomenclature.

Sbec is more efficient than ubec less dissipation of heat but only drawback is that you cannot connect esc with sbec in parallel as they will damaged each other

@himadri- I think ure confused with ubec as linear bec which its not . Ubec and sbec both are switching type hence no heat issues. Ubec example is 3a turnigy ubec.
Linear bec are something else which convert voltage by burning extra off as heat by using linear regulators as 7805 etc.

Both are BEC, Some of them added U(Universal) prefix for that.

Why was it added?
Universal was added by kool brand for their standalone bec. Now every standalone Bec is called ubec. Both are switching is already mentioned in reply2 . Wink

Ps- to top it off the chinese messed it up.

Re:

Hi, I recently searched for an answer to this myself!
After my reading, my understanding is that they are both the same. Just differences in naming due to different brands long ago. Both names stuck and are used interchangeably today.
