Dear friends,

Thanks to this thread and discussion  I who has no prior rc flying experience but very keen to take on this hobby, have zeroed down on the following planes as my first plane to buy. Would be grateful if anyone of you could fine tune this list so that I could zero down on my first plane that would get me started. For me the following are some considerations i.e. no prior flying experience, easiest to fly, easy to maintain, availability of spare parts for repairs etc. Would be grateful for any help and further advice. hello sir welcome to forum if you are new to this hobby than ill suggest to go for sky surfer or multiplex easy star..
when you got some experience of flying than go for scale model...

sky surfer v3 is a very good model.... its very stable and good.... if ur budget is ok try to a get a nice transmitter so ther there will no need for upgrades

go for sky surfer with no doubt about it, it is good for 1st timers as well as fo® experts, it is a good plane for your hanger with very good stable flight and you can easily do some fpv in future with this. so better invest bit more and go for it

Thank you all for your kind replies. RC Bazaar is selling a kit that contains Transmitter: Avionic RCB6i 6ch TX/RX (V-tail mixing capable) - Mode 2. Is that any good? Or should one attempt to buy the transmitter separate?

rcb 6i is a worthy transmitter but u can spend some more on transmitters at the begining itself....

u can go for RCB7x.... But first tell about ur budget.... If u can spend some 13000 for tx u can go JR or futubha..... Then there will be no need for any upgradation..... U can also go for flysky Fst6 or TH9x they  to are good.... and also turnigy 9xr , 9x , 9x pro are some of the other good tx.... it all depends upon ur budget and future interest in this hobby...

In Najibabad you will not have the help of fellow flyers and LHS.

Better keep your priority as reliability, and range. You will have enough to worry about as it is, and won't want the hassle of a doubtful radio.

Go for Futaba, JR, Hitec, Graupner, FrSky or Spectrum. Remember, if you keep it well, the radio has an excellent resale value

Regarding the model, I rate the Multiplex Easystar 2 pretty much ahead of the Sky Surfer (which too is good, no doubt)

Now with what you say makes this a under Rs 25 k option. So it changes the ball game.

However we will take your advise serious and look at Multiplex Easystar along with a better transmitter, as what you say makes sense.

 

"Range" here means the distance at which the transmitter maintains effective and accurate communication with the Receiver. In short, how far you can fly the model without losing Radio Contact.

I have seen several times people buying cheap radios, and then having no control over the model due to signal loss. An expert will probably be able to stay within 250-300 metres, tough for a beginner.

Generally planes do crash, but your equipment stays with you.

PM me your email, and I will send you the SIG handbook, and the BMFA Manual, which though outdated are a worthy (and short) read containing many unshaken fundamentals

If what the manufacturers claim is true - then is that not good enough?

i have used Rcb 6i.... it gives a range around 1km.... but u see it is nt reliable for fast flying airplanes.....
and also i did same thing... without anybody sugesstion i bought RCB 6i its a very good transmitter...no flaws at all... but i learned to fly very soon and it made me to upgrade vey sonn so i dnt want u to do same mistake as i did.... now its ur wish...

You guys are all hung up on transmitters. So there must be some point in that. Hence I would tend to take your advise on the matter. The air plane can wait. The transmitter needs to come first!

But is it appropriate for Sky Surfer which does not look like a fast flying plane and hence probably appropriate for beginners?
