Which ESCs are you using? Don't tell that you are using those unbranded yellow/red escs that are sold in Robokits or any other college projects sites.

Are those escs calibrated?

I am sure you know SimonK is the firm wire type. What is the brand? I think its unbranded (then bulls eye  Grin well perhaps... Roll Eyes)

These days recommended ones are BLHeli and branded like Emax or something.

Again "simonk" is not the brand .... those college project stuff stores try to show it like a brand.... simonk is the firmwire inside. May be one of your 4 escs is malfunctioning. It's all luck.

May be... again which brand you using Smiley

People in different forums whoever faced the same issues are ending up replacing their escs. But again nothing can be told for that sure.

Hi BS1234,

Thanks for posting the specs. Though I have a home built drone (night hawk racer) but I am more into Turbine jets. I feel I am not qualified enough yet to debug your issue but I expect people here now will pitch in to help you out.

1. post a pic of your quad - several in fact , with the props on. , close ups of rcvr , tx arduino , escs motors
2. post a short video of the problem
3 . remove the props disconnect all escs from the receiver and try each esc / motor individually direct from your transmitter
(ask if you are not clear on what I mean) .. report back

we'll try and take it from there.

think of it as going to a doctor , and he asks for blood tests , xrays etc... this will help in faster diagnosis.

Thats the spirit guys, lets not let someones enthusiasm fall due to beginners hiccups.

I remember when i started first, I was not able to fly my quads as I was unable to understand the mapping of tx throttles. The one who sold me the tx rx took me on a video call and walked me through the steps for an hour.

I really appreciate his gesture till date. He moved to US couple of year ago, I hope he is having a great time there.

Firstly, the motor consumes 17-18 amps at max and so a 20a esc will work perfectly.
Secondly, I honestly don't think the problem is because of the Escs as I have built about 3 quads with those esc and each fly without any problem.
Thirdly, as you said you are having the motors randomly spin up, check all the connections thoroughly and if you have used jumpers, make sure they are a  tight fit.
Fourthly, the pids you have given do not look stock. Try to erase the Arduino flash and then configure the code from the starting and then flash it and fly with the stock pids. Multiwii pids are already quite tuned and have worked perfect for me in my builds.

Most probably you've not calibrated the esc's. Check whether you calibrated the esc's.

Thanks bro! But the escs are well calibated and if they wouldn't have been, the motors wont start same, according to enough knowledge i have, cause initially when they were not callibrated the motors wont start same.

Bro i want to know what type of quad u built?f450 or something? the thing u said that multiwii default set pids are well enough to fly, this i have heard many times, but i m using f450 and on that many people i have seen that on 450 frame the pids ly aroud 1.2-1.6 for "p".
Also i tried multiwii defaut pids, they dont work!
thanks!
