Title: Slowly Thermocol version
Post by: SI74 on November 24, 2015, 11:20:48 PM
Here's my "slowly" with Thermocol wing.( as it is light weight and was available with me). I planned for a lightweight version as I had purchased a micro motor frm rcbazar. Used 5 mm depron to build fuselage.wings and tail is usual 1cm thick Thermocol.
SPECS:
AUW 166 gm. Rest of the details and plan in the pics.
NB: Idea from Roman's slowly)

The motor was mounted at a slight downward angle to compensate the upward thrust. Flies slowly and perfect.

One servo ( for rudder) and receiver were pasted using double side tape on the under side if top layer of fuselage and The servo for elev pasted to bottom plate of fuselage. Similarly ESC pasted on the downside ,lipo above (as seen in the pic). Front end ( both upper and lower area) is covered with a piece of styrofoam plate.

Yes Roman, it was balanced with the camera in front. I removed it before this video, to increase the flight time. Forgot to recalibrate 😁😅

How did you give curve and slope to the wing?

Title: Re: Slowly Thermocol version
Post by: SI74 on April 24, 2016, 03:15:37 PM
First, I Hotwire thermocol to aero foil, then cover the whole wing tightly with food wrap (very thin plastic) , then make a linear cut at the bottom, paste  the cut edges of sheet with Sellotape , then hot glue a (linear ) triangular piece of thermocol/depron in the groove (the cut area) , which would curve the ends of the wing.
