Hi there,
after having my great long awaited first flight with ME-109, I came to know that I need some training before flying some war-birds. So, the out come is this.. 'THE NUTBALL'.

Mine is EPS (packing tape reinforced) 17" WS, 220g AUW, 3S 650mAh 15C, CD ROM Brushless, Castle Phoenix 10, 10*4.7, Bamboo Skeleton.

I built it strictly from indian cheaply available material like Bamboo...etc. I can post the build pics and think can answer any question regarding the build.

Is it? But the 'goldguy' who designed it said 'its a floater', and all the vids up there in the RCG show this nutball is floating when throttle is off. Am Scared that am gonna crash it :-(

Well, I could be wrong. Two things make me say that.

1, The prop dia is more than half the wing span. You would have a torque roll effect when you gun the throttle.
2, I believe there are no ailerons. So, any quick correction would not be possible.

But the polyhedral seems to be comforting and it should help. Go ahead and fly it with confidence. Let us know how it goes.

Guys I'm an absolute beginner to rc planes.. I'm planning on entering a local competetion actually which requires you to build a plane( and hopefully continue making rc planes as a hobby !)..And i'm planning on building a nutball ... Has anyone built a nutball and flown it ?? Could anyone tell me if is it a good beginner plane ?

Nutball is a hard nut to crack for an absolute beginner. The problem is that it is both a small plane and a flying wing which are very 'Twitchy'. Start with a high winger like Blue Baby/Easy Star/AXN floater or at least a stable and bigger Flyingwing.

Aiming to learn flying in a short time and to win a competition is a pretty ambitious plan. My advice would be to attend the competition with an objective for an experience.

start with the GWS J3 Cub before the Me109.  I have both and the J3 Cub helps to learn.

I just flew a HK Bixler on our field a few days back, and it is more stable than the AXN floater.  The included power system also seems better on the Bixler, as compared to the AXN.

Thanks for the the review Anwar, seems Bixlers would soon become popular among FPV fans!
A plane 'Based' on the rock solid Easy Star is deemed to be that stable. But such planes are good for absolute beginners, or people want a stress-relieving fun fly to end a bad day at the field. If you want to little bit of acrobatics and learn to hold an inverted as the next step to learning, AXN is an all in package.

A senior member from our forum has flown the model(i dont remember the name), and as per his comments   "it was very difficult and tricky to fly", could not search the thread, and the thread contains a video as well..

So, its not a good trainer..

I saw Prashanth flying Nutball at Jakkur air field almost 2 years back, may be you are talking about him. The plane wast twitchy... damn twitchy!

according to me its a good trainer and it takes a lot of beating ,best i feel in no wind it is great,best it is good for small grounds this was my biggest prob, im having prob with thrust from 2204 motor i think coz im using 8 x 6prop still learning to fly and do trims n stuff thanks 2 all the guys who are helping

Smaller nutballs seem to be twitchy plus the CG should be dead on it. I have a 36incher and it floats!! I crashed it, fixed it with some twigs and cellotape and it flew again. It is indeed a very good trainer(the bigger ones)
