Title: Tricopter
Post by: RAHUL QUADY on June 23, 2017, 08:28:11 AM
Hello guys,I have built a tricopter, and it couldn't fly.Even at full throttle it couldn't fly.Does it has anything to do with pi gain values?,because I am using quadcopter pi gain values.

I don't think its PI gain issue, but not sure.

What firmware(betaflight, open pilot, etc) are you using? Did you select the tricopter option from the configurator?

A few other things to check could be ESC & accelerometer calibration, motor numbering, motor &  prop direction.

I assume you would have already worked out the weight-thrust ratio and you expect the copter to at least hover.

I think Iam using a simonk firmware,I dont know exactly because I bought them for Rs 490.And yes I chose tricopter in motor layout and everything is in its place as it was supposed to be,but I did not work on that thrust ratio thing.I have built the frame on my own, with wood and sand glass.I thinking of building a new frame from PVC pipes. What do you think,is it a good idea?.

I am not even carrying more weight,I assume weight of my tricopter should be around 1200g to 1500g.I am using DT 750 motors, which produce about 1kg of thrust.I don't know what to do guys, please help me this is my first rc model and I've spent half of my holidays on this project :'(.I just want to see it hover atleast. :help: :help: :help: :help: :help:

Hi Rahul,
Check your motor direction to see if they are rotating in the direction you intended it to. With the correct props on, the air will blow towards the ground.
P.S - People here would understand your problem and be able to help you better if you can provide some more details of your build and include some pictures, if possible.

Two of my motors are rotating in CW and the other one is rotating in CCW.I am using 11x4.7 props.Sorry I couldn't upload any photos because our doesn't let me to,I don't know how to compress my photos into 200kb.But I will try to upload,if I could find any software on net.
