Post by: SI74 on November 10, 2015, 09:23:30 PM
Another thermocol plane I built flew well.it is so easy to fly that you don't even need sim practice at all!.I'll post the build plans. (My own plan)
SPECS:
AUW=214 gms
MOTOR- motrolfly DM2204 1600 KV(19gm from Kinetic Hobbies)
ESC- 12 Amps Mantis (10gm from Kinetic Hobbies)
propeller- 8*6 E composite (from Kinetic Hobbies)
Lipo- 500 Mah2S  Turnigy from Robu.in
light weight undercarriage from RCSportz
3.7 gm servos*2 from eBay
5mm depron from edall hobby
2cm thick (usual) Thermocol , wrapped with thin plastic sheet used to cover food, Hotwire cut to aero foil
3mm carbon fiber tube to strengthen the wing from RC sportz
Rest all craftsmanship :)

I built a power pod to mount the motor so that the CG can be adjusted perfectly.

Yes sure :) I have few more Thermocol left :) But the biggest problem I face now is how to keep the models safe? Any one with any good idea?

Hi, every detail already posted. What you need is to take a ruler, draw the plan on depron or Thermocol or coro, stick all parts together, attach all the electronics, do a test flight. That all! If any difficulty at any stage, just leave a query. You'll get the answer.

Slightly large build( at the cost of more weight) but better aesthetics ;D

And this was my trimming guide
http://rc-airplane-world.bmobilized.com/?task=get&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rc-airplane-world.com%2Ftrimming-your-rc-airplane.html

I keep slightly up elevator as default for the plane to climb easily ; a little bit of rudder turned left ( or even the motor angle); CG between 1/3 to 1/4.

Most important part of an RC plane? Yes,it is the wing. And one of the best beginner designs- look at the pic below. Fuselage could be of any shape; less weight, the better. Motor and prop size should be calculated, based on AUW,wing span and area. Another important thing is a propeller properly connected to motor shaft, but many a time you may find difficulty there. So the best way? Make sufficient space for the prop to be attached, then apply a bit of hot glue, immediately press the prop to the shaft, you'll get a perfect impression so that the prop won't wobble. If you made a perfect wing and a fuselage with less drag, the utmost task- fine tune CG @ around 1/3 distance( a bit to its front) from LE of wing. It'll fly to your satisfaction,I promise. :)

If no CF rod available use a small piece of Balsa wood instead to strengthen the Thermocol wing.lightweight and very strong.Attached to the wing using hot glue! (After it is cooled :) ) and covered with thin food wrap.
