Title: Want to buy a new starter kit (Electric or glow)
Post by: Shrikant on November 24, 2009, 01:50:21 PM
Dear All,

I am keen to buy a new starter kit (electric or glow). I am a complete newbie for R/C, though back in school days I used to build gliders and control lined models out of balsa. Actually a couple years back, I had bought an ARF (CESSNA 180 of Wattage). Details: http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=318 and http://www.hobbytron.com/Watt-Age-Cessna-180-EP-RTF.html which came with a 4 channel radio. A trip to race course at Mahalaxmi made me realise that it was not a strong model and the motor was just enough for park flying.

Now I am keen to buy another model , but use the same Radio Tx and Rx. Can anyone suggets if same radio can be used and if so, a decent starter model?

Thanks...

Hi Shrikant,
First Of all, What happen to the Cessna?? is it still alive?
Secondly if you want to buy a new Starter. please go for E-Starter or MR. MOSS, both are available with Sai.
Yes you can use your 4 Channel on any of the plane mentioned above.
if you have time, call me.

Sandeep

Thanks to both of you for your quick replies...

The Cessna is still there... I am too keen to fly it also. Just that the group at racecourse said it cant be, because it is too under powered. (Ofcourse motor lasts only for about 5 mins). I have two sets of batteries. I will be too happy to try again. Maybe upgrade the batteries to LiPo and motor also to brushless... hey that seems good idea coming our of this disucussion.  {:)} I shall contact you soon and take more guidance.. Thanks again....

A big thanks to Sandeep  {:)} :salute:

He retrofitted one of his brushless sets onto my small Wattage Cessna 180. Gotta buy the Lipos and am ready to fly...

@ Sandeep, I intend to buy 2 nos of 7.4 v 850 mAH battery and required charger for the same from Sai. That should suffice for each lesson of my learning...

@Sai and Sandeep
Also, I intend to purchase the A2204 brushless combo, so I can replace Sandeep's combo... But I saw on your listing, another brushless combo which is A2212 brsuhless combo. I intend to fit it on Wattage Cessna 180. You think this will fit?  :headscratch: If it can, I would prefer the A2212 considering that I can then use it for bigger models once I grow out of Cessna 180.  8-)

The Wattage Cessna I am talking about has been linked in my previous posts

The  2212 is over over over kill  for a 6 oz plane ( 168 gms ).

2204  itself should be OK otherwise go in for a 2805/1400 KV .this motor can be used with a plane like slow stick later as well.

Ok Thanks..

So Now I think I can put down my final shopping list:

1) 2 nos of 7.4 v 850 mAH batteries and required charger (That takes care of 2805 motor right?)
2) 2805 Brushless combo with appropriate ESC and 8 x 4 prop (props would be 2 in number, just in case)
3) Accessories like prop adapter and bands etc. (please guide me on that)

Sai, can you please give me the link to your these listings? I could not find them. I could find the motor alone but i need the combo..

I finally ordered a Mr Moss kit from Sai... I figured, that I need almost all parts of Mr Moss (except servos and few small parts), so figured, its best to have a complete kit for a little incremental cost so i can switch models....  8-)

ordered 1 battery extra for added flying time on the field...

Waiting for the parcel to arrive..... (:|~

Sandeep, hopefully i will be joining you at the field this weekend.. shall call you...

Sai -  What are the chances of you coming out with a Moss version with a reverse mounted engine/prop ?  This goes for other shops too !

I know you have one already, I am talking about a more widely produced, mass consumption one.

Hello Sai,

Just a feedback.. the Moss kit that I ordered from you has not yet reached me.  :help: I know your shipment was prompt,  but it is ridiculous to note that DTDC brings a shipment from Chennai to New Bombay in 2 days and does not deliver it within New Bombay (radius of 2 km) for the 2 more days... :headscratch: Website says "out for delivery" since 10th December.... If I'd set a turtle on the track, it would reach faster  :giggle:  Been following up (took me a day to get their numbers.. only addresses on website. No tel numbers). May be you could feed them back  :violent: and they would listen (you being a regular customer)
