Greetings! I have just joined this forum. I was always fascinated by flight. I am 46 years old and have decided to start this hobby now. I find this forum very informative, thanks to all the experts out here. Before building I want to learn RC flying. I mean I want to know the controls on the remote and its corresponding action on the control surfaces of the plane. So can I use a Computer animated flight simulation software which gets controlled by a simulation RC remote(exactly like the real RC for aero-modelling) ? This would prepare me for real RC flying. Am I on the right track? Your recommendations are solicited. Thanks and Regards. Colonel S Philip

Hello,

Yes you are on right track. Using simulator is best way to get into RC flying. (You can crash as many times as you want to)

You will obviously need a real RC plane later. So first decide that you will be scratch building one or will be buying RTF (Ready to Fly).

If you can spare some time and eager to learn then you may go with scratch building else RTF.

I started few months back and I went with scratch building and still learning to fly. The process is : Learn, build, crash, repair, crash, learn something new, apply it, build another, crash, repair, crash, repair, crash.....

RTF versions are built to perfection you dont need to do anything other than flying, as they are designed and tested by experts but if you crash it and need a replacement part, either it will be costly or not easily available.

Happy Flying!

Swapnil N. (by the way here's my first successful build)

Keep calm and fly safe.

I suggest getting a simulator first.. I.e a teansmiter basically and a software...
Learn the basics..
Don't skip the basics.
Learn how control surfaces work. Learn about how a wing generates lift.( if u wanna make a drone/ quad u can but its expensive)
Then if on a tight budget make ur own airplane. Perhaps some YouTube videos will help.
If budget is not an issue...buy one...perhaps a sky surfer or even a sky walker as a permanent future investment into fpv flying.

Diy cost will be at least 6k
And rtf cost will be at least 11k.
Helix and quads are fun..but a whole new topic and money.

Hi Ketika,
We know you are an automobile enthusiast who thinks that RC means Regn Cert.
Please do post some more irrelevant messages so that we can laugh at you before cutting you off.
