Title: Which camera will be cheapest for my quadcopter ?
Post by: vishalahuja on February 13, 2017, 07:05:45 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am a newbie in RC. I would like the advice of the experts here that what is the cheapest way to get video transmission from a drone. I dont know much but is there any type of camera (which would be fitted in the quad) that can transmit video through wifi so I could receive the transmission on my android phone( in some app) ?

Or is there any other method which could cut the cost of buying expensive video transmitter and receiver.

Eagerly waiting for responses

Regards

Vishal Ahuja

you need a video transmitter-Receiver and a camera or a camera and transmitter inbuilt with a Receiver ..and also a monitor or you can use your phone as monitor(need some cable)

there are a number of cheap wifi cameras available in indian markets. they will transmit video to your smartphone via wifi , although the range will not be much. try this for example

Thank u Vishal

But the camera u suggested is not that cheap. It costs around 5500/=
There are several chinese drones costing around 4000-5000 which have  some sort of wifi cameras, which cameras are those ones.
These cameras connect with your smartphones wifi and not only you can have a real time video on yr smartphone but u can also fly the quad with that.

they have limited field angle, and the resolution they offer , their speed etc etc isn't that good, whereas this camera has a 170 deg wide lens and offers 4k as well with no visible latency...now this is also a chinese, but a better one. i am not a photographer and so i was happy with this camera's results.

i had a crash landing of my walkera tali hexacopter and the camera was busted ,i was forced to buy an alternative because the original was costing around 20k and i was in no mood of investing anything more on my hexacopter.

but it has a range of max 40-50 mts. If i had to spend this amount would'nt it be better to get a TX RX kind of a cam, it would surely give a good range

Trust me you don;t wan to go for chinese small quad with wifi camera ..it just works fine when its new and very limited range. I had bought one which had HD cam and worked fine on Iphone and after the 1st crash camera never worked again. However the quad just works fine.
I would suggest invest in Rc based Camera and receiver. I use Spektrum VA series 5.8ghz  camera with built in transmission and it just works fine for me and not to mention that it has survived so many crashes.
