Title: Your view on Radiomaster TX16S for a beginner
Post by: skydiver on August 06, 2020, 05:48:37 PM
I am new to this hobby. I have been doing a lot of googling to understand on how to begin. What attracted me most is the fpv freestyle flying. I was thinking of building one fpv quadcopter but then realized it is hard to finalize on the components and even harder to find it available in India. Also, in many places it is suggested that a beginner should have a radio first and practice on a simulator and that buying a decent radio will pay off in the long run.

The one radio i find quite appealing is the TX16S mainly because of its multi protocol support. But then a radiomaster tx16s on Indian sites costs more than 20k. Is that a fair price to pay for this radio? The price is almost like i am importing one on my own with 40% customs duty.

Requesting your view on this.

The Radiomaster from the reviews it has received is considered as an excellent radio. Not sure how useful OpenTX is for a beginner but then a lot of people start off with OpenTX so that shouldn't be an issue. If you're not willing to pay around 20k for a radiomaster then there are radios like the FrSky Qx7 and the x9 lite which are available for 11-12k₹ and 9-10₹ respectively. Both have gotten excellent reviews as well, not sure how it compares to Radiomaster.s multiprotocol system.

Generally it's considered that one should get the best radio they can afford.

That's a fair point. I did consider the Frsky qx7, but could not find it available anywhere. Or am I not looking at the right places? I did refer many of the sites mentioned in this forum though.

Hello, my company name is PN Trade and Services and our website www.uavmaniac.com is still in development.

We are authorised dealers of Radiomaster in India and we are expecting goods in about 2-3 weeks time. Our price will be very competitive than the current market rate as we will be selling for only around 15-16k.

If you are not in a hurry, we'd request you to watch out our website for stock updates.

It's available at gettbs.in, although quite expensive at ₹13,500

We are actually dealers in DJI products but now we are starting a subsidiary of our company with the name UAVManiac. We will be selling all RC products. Currently we are still in sourcing stage so we haven't updated any products yet. Within a months time, we will have the website loaded with all the products related to RC.

Sir if you don't mind me asking, can I ask why do you feel this price of 13.5k is expensive? And also what price do you expect it for? It will be very helpful of you to answer because it will help me to determine the price of my product.

It is expensive because I've seen the radio for 11.5k₹ a lot of times on multiple websites.

It is expensive because I've seen the radio for 11.5k₹ a lot of times on multiple websites.

Previously Radiomaster had a good discount for dealers but just after their launch, they got tremendous response so they increased the price for dealers.

The reason you saw this price was due to unawareness of dealers and lack of knowledge about shipping size and price. Most newcomer dealers just multiply the company USD price and add their margin. They cannot actually deliver the goods for the said price.

Classic example was of quadkart. They listed price 15,000. Even gave a welcome offer. Eventually they had to refund the buyers of welcome offer as well.

One website listed it for 13500, changed to 16000 later to 18000 then to 21000. This happened due to lack of proper knowledge of import restrictions and shipping price and duty amount.

Now coming back to your price, the price that you are asking for (11500) is way beyond the landing price in india. You have to add shipping and customs and license fee in the price which is not included. Even 13500 is unachievable price considering the amount dealer spends on the procurement.

I am talking about the FrSky Qx7 here. This radio has been available for 11.5k₹ for years and was available for a similar price before the lockdown also I think.
