Title: 6th sweepstakes- Exploration and Rescue Airboat(ERA?)
Post by: RCNeil21 on July 07, 2015, 05:30:12 PM
Hello fellow RCIndians this is my entry into the for the sweepstakes, always wanted to build an airboat for having fun with :). This airboat will also double up as a rescue boat for future water projects.
Have taken inspiration from ashok sirs design and also researching on the aquacraft mini alligator tours ;D. The basic ratios were taken after looking at a few airboat designs.

I have only designed my airboat and before i proceed further i would like boat builders to review this design and tell me if any changes have to be made.
Material i am planning to use is 3mm coroplast with internal frame from 6mm depron.

Basic dimensions:
Bow to stern: 18"
Beam: 10.5"
Thickness: 2"

Planned Electronics:
CF2822
18A ESC
9gm servo
2200Mah Lipo
10x4.7 prop

In corro, be careful of the alignment of the flutes. Align in such a way that water can not collect in the flutes - will add significant weight. If there is an odd open flute, seal off with hot glue

One way to strengthen the corro to prevent rupturing if you hit a sharp stone at speed is to coat with resin. Be sure to use a thin coat as that is heavy. Sand the corro lightly then wipe off with thinner before applying resin to remove Silicon Oil traces (used as a mould release agent)
