Title: Design for a tech fest
Post by: topalle on September 14, 2015, 07:41:58 PM
hello guys,

I am participating in the tech fest PhaseShift by BMSCE(My college)
It has an event called Cruise where we have to build a model boat using thermocol and some balsa.( limited resources but just enough to build a boat. They will also give a motor (or two), propellers and battery..The design must be as stable as possible and must go in a straight line...

Veteran boat builders please suggest me some key points that i have to keep in mind while designing the boat.

Thanks in advance :help: :help: :salute: :salute: :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

Srinivas,
You have to state the objective, eg
True to scale?
Speed?
Manueverability?
Screw in water or airscrew?
Etc.
Other than roopeshkrishna, who seems long gone,
And VC, also gone
There are several members from Kerala doing boats recently.
And ashok baijal from bangalore.
Best of luck.

Ok.
So it is non RC.
And has to go in a straight line.
Fine, but what are the evaluation criteria?
Distance? Speed? Efficiency?

Edit: please post the rules.

Could not find any mention of boats on phase shift 2015 website.
Prize money etc irrelevant.
Unless you can say what exactly is to be evaluated, not possible to offer any suggestions.
Tried to help...
