I think the speed is OK, what would have been nice is to use a ducted fan motor  Roll Eyes

When can we see the amphibian version ?

the rudder has to be 10%(area) of boats length,if you have a fast boat keep the rudder short or vice versa

if one is using a pull setup then the motors angle should be slightly upwards (experiment to get the best results)

if its a push setup then point the motor downwards

very important keep the CG as low as possible, if you think you have a higher CG increase the sides of the boat this should stabilize it n prevent flipping or dunk.

please remember I'm not an expert just a hobby guy..................

Dear Sahil

I think you will get better results if you have two air rudders (Better control, real ones also have two)and
two fins (10mm height)  running paralell  throughout the legth of  underside(Gives more stability).

+1
I am impressed how you used the simple brushed motor and above all you DIY Brushed ESC!!
Dual rudder should definitely give you better  control.
Replacing the foam motor mount with a 'U' shaped Balsa would give you added stability. I think you mounted the motor with Glue/Tape.
Have seen many speed boats just going air born and turtle back. Do try to water proof you Reciever and Lipo than anything else. improvising with Zip pouch would be nice.

Kudos once again for trying something different than just planes....

Did somebody tried 'Hover Craft' ?

Nice work.
Reminded me of a hovercraft i built ages back. It had 3 motors. 2 at the back for steering/moving forward/backwards and one at the center that compressed air which went through a bicycle tubing at the bottom with holes . It worked both on ground and on water.
Will try to get some photos here one day

thanks guys n sorry for the delay in replying (working)

rahul here is the setup i used :

motor: from a Chinese 2ch heli motor size is 280 and can take 3.5amps @ 7.4 volts (motor is warm)
prop: GWS 5X4  Head Scratching
ESC: home made
servo: 8grams e-sky
lipo battery Hyperion 2S/400mamp/7.4volts
rudder: coroplast
boat: packaging foam-hot wire cut from cardboard templates
futaba 4CH rc set

basically the motor work efficiently at around 30watt and the battery has a maxi. discharge of 50watt i was getting about 10 to 13mins of run time with varying throttle.

hope his was of some help sorry should have posted earlier  Bang Head

the boat project originally started in 2007 as a free boat thing n ended up as rc boat  Grin PS: http://www.indiarc.com/forum/index.php?topic=1320.0

Fixing a couple of fins ( like a shark fish has) at rear end bottom of the boat can reduce the dragging while taking high speed turn.
And I am interested to know the homemade ESC for brushed DC motor.
