Title: hovercraft Post by: rmahajan95 on August 17, 2014, 01:12:20 PM I am going to start a small hovercraft project run on motors and batteries , could anybody help me with the best , efficient design which is stable and the appropriate dimensions(it is a small one). Thank you in advance :) Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: lastRites on August 17, 2014, 02:18:24 PM Search the forum. :P And then ask specific questions :) Do you already have the parts on hand?
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: devangflyer on August 17, 2014, 02:35:53 PM Hi , I have an idea why not buy this hovercraft - http://rcbazaar.com/products/1419-hover-craft.aspx (http://rcbazaar.com/products/1419-hover-craft.aspx) and then change the motor and , a servo , receiver and battery
Because I dont think that anyone can make a DIY hovercraft in their first time only , first try this and then think about making one , because for that you will have to design frame , import rubber mat ( I have never seen it in India ) , you will need another motor to lift the hovercraft and thus another battery also . Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: miginstruments on August 17, 2014, 07:41:32 PM well if u go for a ready unit like Devang Sir has mentioned, U ll atleast come to know how it works, n what are its important parts. Now u can disassemble the craft n thoroughly observe it then it ll be pretty easier for U to start your own project.

Then you can move the electronics over to a hovercraft.
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: rmahajan95 on August 20, 2014, 04:48:56 PM yes i have all the components required for that...! :)
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: prabjot on September 06, 2014, 04:54:57 PM working on hovercraft, using the circuit of cheap chinese remote car, how can i connect the ESC to it, as one wire is the signal wire.
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 05:43:42 PM Provide some more details..
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: prabjot on September 06, 2014, 05:48:51 PM simple two channel circuit
channel 1: acceleration brushed dc motor channel 2:steering brushed dc motor i want to use brush-less 1400kv motor using this circuit. so how to connect to connect it. Any suggestion? Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 05:51:42 PM What is amperage of ESC?
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: prabjot on September 06, 2014, 05:52:42 PM 5Amp to 7Amp
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: prabjot on September 06, 2014, 05:56:37 PM basically I'm thinking to use 20a Simmons ESC but having confusion how to connect it
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 05:59:30 PM Circuit board in your car is working as a receiver and ESC .
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: rcrcnitesh on September 06, 2014, 06:00:41 PM see you can only use brushed motor in toy grade stuff.
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 06:04:02 PM You can connect ESC battery plugs into motor output of circuit board .
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 06:06:10 PM But you have to measure , how much current is drawn by your existing brushed motor . Also what about controlling BL motor speed?
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: prabjot on September 06, 2014, 06:07:39 PM hmm but what about the signal wire on the ESC. do i have to connect it with the antenna of the circuit??
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 06:09:44 PM No , not for antenna..
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: prabjot on September 06, 2014, 06:10:35 PM then how can i access the BL motor using the RC control?
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: rcrcnitesh on September 06, 2014, 06:13:12 PM I dont think you can.
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 06:16:30 PM I think BEC wire can be left as it is . As Car circuit board is having both ESC and receiver .
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 06:17:44 PM Although i never tried all this and it may be risky ..
It may fry your circuit board etc. Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: prabjot on September 06, 2014, 06:20:51 PM this is the circuit type i'm trying to connect with ESC
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: rcrcnitesh on September 06, 2014, 06:24:01 PM you can used brushed motors.
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: prabjot on September 06, 2014, 06:25:18 PM The brushed motor isnt creating the amount of thrust needed hover
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: rcrcnitesh on September 06, 2014, 06:25:28 PM as these receivers don't give ppm signal you can't connect rc esc.
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 06:27:16 PM Steering motor has nothing to do with ESC or BL motor . It should be separate .
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 06:29:20 PM you can used brushed motors. +1Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 06:30:45 PM I have seen many hovercraft in this forum only with brushed motor ..
Giant one also made by VC sir .. Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 06:31:49 PM Your's is a College project?
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: rcrcnitesh on September 06, 2014, 06:32:13 PM then use better brushed motors.
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: prabjot on September 06, 2014, 06:33:45 PM tell me a brushed motor that can create a thrust of around 1000g
Title: Re: hovercraft Post by: aditya on September 06, 2014, 06:38:22 PM What are the dimensions of your Hovercraft ? and weight ?
