Title: its my CAABRI.. the cabriolet race boat....
Post by: roopeshkrishna on August 31, 2012, 11:23:12 AM
Good morning all of my Respected modellers and friends.. i was stopped making models due to some health issues.. and my final determination was to stop it all for ever.. and i thrown all of my related things, including my art knifes and brushes.. but,my Colleague, the veteran aeromodeler Mr Vinod Madhavan, came to me, and instead of giving advices he gave me a new hope and life back.. he gave me everything to work back, including the art knife set, along with a new soldering iron.. it was a new beginning to me, as both of us completed a new prestigious project of L C D display for our Navy.. from the moment, i realized that thers no time to waste.. and i realize one more thing that i have only a short time to work ahead with modeling.. so no turning back.. each minute is precious.. and i was in a little self research to find a new way to make models without putty.. so, turning to foam board.. and it worked.. nicely..  and as a result i looked to my line of crafts and felt that i do not have high speed crafts.. so decided to make some fast boats.. result starts here.. the first one.. is my CAABRI.. yes, is because its my new cabriolet race boat.. (open top)..

she spans in to 26 inches, and proportionally wider.. powered by a simple motor, she is designed for speed and battery saving in same while.. so worked.. all needed this are scratch built including the propeller..
here you can see how simple it all.. i started with 3 mm foam board..

Really nice boat sir..   {:)}

Do you have plans for same ? Or can you please point me out from where can I get it.

I have some noob questions here

# I have never build a boat , which one should be the first ? (I am totally inspired by your work and would like to build one for my self.)
# Which glue you are using for foam board ?
# I have ask , locally I’m getting 3 mm foam board @   21-22 per sq/feet is it reasonable rate ? (sheet of 4*4 to  350/-)

Sure, Vinayak.. one of the easiest and safest model boat is deep V hull.. will be so stable even at high speeds.. these boats are very expensive when you buy from out side.. so you can make a simple one with foam board.. will last for a lifetime.. easy to make.. and you can use the same super glue that we can get from any book shop to make this boat.. but if you need a good even more strong bonds you can buy industrial cyano glue.. but care must be taken as it can stick instantly anywhere.. :thumbsup:

Thanks Roopesh Sir for your inputs  :salute:

Do you have any pdf plans for this boat , which I can print and start building on foam board ? or can you please point me the link ?

I believe this is same as we  build aircraft and the material is different  :headscratch:

Vinayak.. you do not need any plan for a boat.. instead please use the aspect ratio as 4:1 means 4 part length, and one part wide.. will be nice..
