Here is a sort of build log of my second airboat "FunBoat >
". I incorporated the things I learnt from making my first boat. The electronics used are as follows:
Turnigy Aerodrive XP 1400KV
Nano-Tech 1.6Ah 25c
Birdy 30A esc
HobbyKing 17gm servo
It is a coro and packing thermocol construction with Bamboo skewer spars.

The design uses two part construction, a lower hull and an upper hull. This was done to increase the strength but mostly because I only had 2" thick thermocol
The fins on the lower hull prevents the boat from rolling over in high speed maneuvers..

We wanted a shark theme but due to unavailability of gray
we went ahead with a black and burple paint scheme which turned out to be quite nice. But the finish was crappy as the surface was not finished before painting. We just wanted to get some paint on it

It is quite fast. But the rear end comes below the water line on full throttle, not good for the electronics, but the mist from the prop looks COOL

I wish other youngsters would be as adventurous and just go ahead and build something like this from scavenged materials. What the hell - it works! Well done.
You may want to change the thrust line of the motor to a shallower angle. That will prevent the stern from dipping. Or else you could try shifting the battery forward. Video please.

Thank you VC! If I decrease the thrust angle the boat tends to flip when I am driving it on land. I know the speed will increase if the thrust line is more horizontal but since I am a beginner I like this docile handling now. I will fit a higher KV motor and decrease the angle when I gain more confidence
I maidened the boat at night so no videos now. Will try to shoot one ASAP. But some of the colours (acrylic) got washed away on the first run as I did not give it enough time to set

Shot some video today. But the quality is crap (low light+ cell phone camera).. But it hydroplanes with a good tailwind.. Wooohoooo

I do not think you will be able to see properly but the boat gets up on the step and starts to hydroplane around the 1:15 mark. Then my friend almost falls out of the paddle boat we were on
