HYDRO PLANER.....

its my LIFE BOAT..

Friends..and colleagues..it was my long dream to make a life boat after seeing the Tamar Life Boat..and now i realized this craft..but sad, because i took about 12 days, instead of 6 or 7..wasn't lazy..but busy with my work..
as usual i started with thermocol..

she is powered by a reworked motor, to 6 volts 700 mA, and backed up by a 6 channel professional radio..i used a 3.5 kg STD servo for the rudder, as the rudder plate is too big..

fig 3 showing the hand made prop, and shroud (Kort Nozzle), this saves battery a lots..with rudder panel..

all guard rails and grab rails were made out of brass rods and copper winding wire along with piano strings..

all window channels were made from drawing paper..and painted with aluminum paint..

whole painting done by enamel paints and no costly paints are used..all color scheme are based on real craft..

whats a craft without some imagination..? so i added some imaginative innovations and changes in to my craft, as i avoided fly bridge at the top of the structure, instead i added a modern scanner based radar, to give captain a great view, in 360 degree in all weather..and the hull is also modified a lots..

i added some clay and aluminum powder to paint to get a shiny effect over the rafts and bin..
and placed over the cab..

The crane was made out of foam board, 2 mm thick, and seasoned..i couldn't find any crane over the craft, but i am adding a big crane here to pick up the Gemini boat from the door below..

i added some yellow kum kum powder to paint to get real industrial yellow color, and slurry texture..
whole decals were made with Photoshop, Illustrator and Coreldraw, and printed in A4 paper in a high quality printer..cutting it..is a painstaking process..

for more realism, i added all wind shield wipers, working..
by altering two micro servos electronically and mechanically, for continuous rotation, either clock or counter clock, direction, to actuate the wipers, is connected with 5th and 6th channels of the radio, so i can alter the speed from 0 to full, or in any desired speed, by turning the given knobs on TX..

my worry was about the motor..but it was very ok..and the PWM based ESC also proved very successful..in 6 volt, in full throttle she was fast even on windy and wavy water..

Not trying to pick any holes here, just sharing something that my Dad (a Naval Officer) taught me when I was building my first boat 25 years ago..

The only thing missing are the mandatory Red and Green Navigation Lights.

Roopesh, since you have gone to this extent of detailing to make this boat a real beauty, I am sure you can add this in a jiffy.

in the hands of Gokul,my ever favorite ship and aero model student, a Naval NCC Cadet, winner of the special gold medal, for ship modeling, showing the sheer size of the craft..she is 3 feet long, proportional wide, but weighs very little..thanks for the thermocol and foam board along with paper..powered by a simple 6 volts, 2500 mA battery pack, she runs about 2 hours in a single charge..

actually my first intention was to power her by my Futaba FASST..but afraid of moisture..i was unwilling to test fortune with expensive machines..so i tried with Hobby king 6 channel radio..woow..its a nice machine, value for money, indeed, and solid base of 2.4 GHz, and gave me a best range even in water.. Hats Off

Friends..now all you can see how simple to make a craft..i hope i could inspire many of you, as all you inspires me..happy..follows... Thumbs Up

sure Raiyus..but it will not be a tutorial, but only a sharing of knowledge..now i am working for that, with my aero and ship modeling students, Gokul,kavitha, prajith, and beena. all with detailed photographs and videos..and yes with all needed stuffs..from battery packs to ESC for brushed motor up to 240 amps..all it are simple..
