Title: MAS 562 Torpedo Boat Plans
Post by: VC on December 02, 2009, 09:54:46 PM
I would like to share a detailed plan of a Motorised Torpedo Boat that I found on the net after a fair amount of rummaging. She is approximately 75 cms long and would make a beautiful model. It is a PDF file and I don't know how to attach it here.

Anyone interested, may please contact me and I would be delighted to mail it to you. Or else, you can find it here :

Cheers!

Are you going to build one ?  :)

About the PDF plan, due to possible copyright issues, we are better off just posting a link to its original location (unless you are abso-freaking-lutely sure that it is a freely distributable one).

Dear Anwar,

(A) Right now, I am floundering with the Akula Sub trying to get it as near as completion as possible. I will definitely build the Torpedo Boat - WHEN, I don't know!

(B) Checked the sight, it seemed to be a absolutely FREE download (no strings attached). However, you are right. As an Administrator, you can never be too sure. Your responsibilities are far greater than ours. What to do? Your call, you are the Boss. Delete the link/my post if you feel that is right. No hard feelings, I understand. I will try to find a way to post it again without impinging any copyrights etc. Fellow modellers could do with these free giveaways. I know how precious they are (You know it better than I).

Cheers!

Posting a link is usually not a problem, it is uploading the file itself that is unethical.

I understand and won't do that. Trust me. Lets just leave it at the link that I posted. Anybody interested can follow it. Thanks for the guidance. :salute:

It is a scratchbuilt Russian Akula in semi scale (approx 1:125). Work has stopped for a while as I am concentrating on the Raptor and Evo builds. Will post some snaps soon.

Cheers!

Dear VC Sir,

Any plans on completing the Akula before the arrival of Chakra?  :).
Perhaps we might have the 2 photo-graphed (or -shopped) alongside  {:)}.

Hi VC,
I have just finished marking out the hull frames and keel for the 'MAS 562' there was some thing I noticed and thought I would give you a 'heads up' incase you saw it too late............. where the keel passes under the motor coupling it curves up to support the 'stuffing box'  [prop shaft outer] for the full length inside the hull  [page26 in the PDF plan].
it also shows the cooling pipes for the motor and it is not too easy to spot,
you can just see this in the 'skeletal view' [ page 1 ] it curves up as it gets to frame/bulkhead 16  but it is 'not too clear' as they do not show the prop shaft exit through the hull.
hope this helps.  :) ;)

Thanks Don for the insight, I don't remember having spotted that. However, once the LCAC Hovercraft is completed by this weekend, I plan to revive the 48" PT 109 build. That is my first priority (other than the 36'' span Tow Line Glider).

Will keep this in mind when I start work on the 562, and pepper you for help!

Regards,

VC

hi mate,
hahaha I may still be 'knee deep' in it myself at that time...........
got the board for the skeleton, but will have to look round for the side skins and planks for the bottom,
then there is the topside............. although I am thinking of doing wheelhouse etc in thick card......... [better quality than xmas cards]..... I have an A4 pack sat doing nothing.
I have the motor and esc and servos.....going to use a 450 heli brushless motor and put a reverse switch in.
so just need the prop and shaft and rudder.
I will try it on 2.4 gig radio and see if I get trouble [ I have heard it's  'not too good' on water??? ]
