after the hull was ready I applied the fibre glassing resin to waterproof the hull,

most of the hardware was brought from hobbyking as its not available in India,

the boat weighs 2.5KG. and 3KG including battery.

there are some things to be consider, as the ride is not stable, like the hull weight, guess it lil more weight to be stable, the trim tabs yet to be fixed. fibreglassing the hull is highly recommended

presently I am working on a model tugboat, here I am attaching the plan.
I have drawn the line diagrams what ever I felt correct & the shape of the hull seems ok. If you want I can send you the files.

This tugboat is little critical in the sense (1) the deck is not flat, (2) the sidewall curved inward (3)  there is a step cut in the sidewall in between bulkhead 5 & 6.
Plan_1: More suitable for making fiberglass mould where I have eliminated the Keel which is projected at the stern.
Plan_2: I have just given the line diagram of bulkheads and keel, you have study & compare this one with the original plan before cutting the bulkheads and other parts.
The length of this boat 3 feet, around 1:25 scale of the original.

Hi christopher...
You are really a great boat builder...please can you tell how you got those curves on 3mm plywood?.... this is THE material i was looking for...i didnt get foam of fiber glass so i am plannong to build with aluminium or ply( your build gave me the idea)

Title: Re: My New 42" Scratch built RC Boat
Post by: desachristopher on October 06, 2013, 08:58:32 PM
plywood is good, for this boat I used 3mm ply from local ply shop dat also ordinary one, I did not use any instant glues, but fevicol, which is used for wood, but the thing is it has to keep overnight to dry, for carves  I used to either clamp or nail.
