This is a 52" twin hull RC catamaran . Built with 3mm plywood. I used fevicol as a glue. But latter switch to araldite. Below are some build logs..

No clamps. So I took anything I could. To put on some weight

@desachristopher,
{:)}
Must be far more difficult using ply as compared to balsa.
Hope you are going to:
1. Have a thin fibreglass and epoxy finish, plus spray painted colours
2. A roaring nitro engine to make this cat really fly
3. Set an Indian speed record for boats
Looking forward to completion...

Amazing Work Chris, Wish I could see it in real, 52" thats huge. BTW That Black stone (Grinding) reminded me of Goan Fish curry that my mom prepares. You found out a new use of that stone.....

Nik

desachristopher

the grinding stone was Idle, so I made a good use of it. :) :)

@desachristopher,

Hope you have a good spray gun. Or that you are using spray cans.
This boat deserves better than a brush job...

Edit
And you never told us about that high powered nitro engine...

desachristopher

I have a brushless set ready, thinking of going for a petrol engine. like brush cutters. hope I get one in local market/shops

After long time i see the finishing like this. I use to challenge to my friend about mirror finish and you are close to it. nice one and it took me back to 1999 when i built my own designed power boat with ply. very difficult to shape. you have done great job buddy

Electronics are 3650 brush less motor. 180a ESC . 5000mah 4s lipo.

I only need to change the motor. Sets a motor on Ali express. 4090 size somewhere around 1200kv . I think it's for enough power to handle this boat. But very costly. In less then what it cost I can get an engine.

Excellent build!!!
I watched the entire video log and can imagine your plight building this beauty.
Loads of hard work, patience and perseverance, I must say.

Yes, the boat is slow and you need a Bigger motor for it. I think it can go 4 times the current speed. If you going electric, do use the marine ESC with water cooling. Add a small diaphragm pump if the need be so for cooling.

I am on a similar project with a 48 inch Stryker cat hull and a 26cc motor. I ain't got those scratch building skills nor my patience lasts that long. Lol.

Anyway, good luck and keep updating!
Cheers !!!

thanks buddy, I cannot afford another motor and battery, so I brought 1 brush cutter engine. 4 stroke 35cc. but that is taking all the space and the boat is looking ugly. i have not fitted yet.

hi you can use 4260 motor
I was looking for 4092 brushless motor + ESC + 6s battery setup. but dats gonna be too expensive . so decided to go for gas . lets see when I can install 1.

K K Iyer

Lovely!
Open the hatch, place the engine in the engine bay and take a photo.
Eager to see!
(Is a bigger motor/esc/lipo much more expensive?)
