In addition to what you already have, you'll need,

Water propeller
Shaft/stuffing tube
Battery pack
Radio set
ESC (Electronic Speed Control)-- you'll need brushed ESC as you have brushed motors.
and a few other construction materials like glue and tools.

Thermocol has nice buoyancy, it should work well for you, given that you shape and balance the hull properly.

Good luck.  Thumbs Up

thnx AnjanBabu for your reply but let me remind you that the condition of competition is to make your boat the most economic...so radio set will be little bit costly as well as esc, any other alternative for that or any other source from which i can get a second hand used radio set???
Also please tell me how to start with the design that will be effective as this one is not like a motor boat than a warship....
thnk you
waiting for replies.... Smiley Smiley

second option (though ridiculous) is to buy a Chinese rc car which goes forward backward left and right. extract the electronics from it and use them to power the boat... that way you get a cheap remote to control the boat.. be warned there are no guarantees with this system, and it can fail anytime...

What is the course of your competition? Straight or 8 shape or different one?

Which boat are you planning to build? Why the particular 1/8 scale? Please post some links or pictures so that we can understand what you are trying to achieve.

I would build this boat out of Depron or Foam Core Board. The detailed plans for this particular boat are freely available on the net. Search for them.
