Hi ,
why every one use in boat higher Kv motor and Higher Amp ESC?
Lower kv Motor gives a more torque  than a higher kv motor, only a rpm is less but torque enough.
so why did not use a lower kv motor in boat so don"t want to do water cooling stuff and all.it may be easy i think so.
plz give some suggestion so my doubt can clear.

Re:

Hi Nik ... Though I am not a boat person ... I am into planes ... But for your question ... The answer lies in the limitation in the propeller size in a boat ... If you use bigger propeller in a boat ( which is not practical ) you could definitely use lower kV motors ...
Comments welcome... Correct me if am wrong ..

Lower kv Motor gives a more torque  than a higher kv motor, only a rpm is less but torque enough.

Your answer is in your question. Even though low kv motors produce high torque, they have low RPM. Small propellers (like those used in boats) need to be rotated at extremely high RPMs to produce the needed thrust. Large propellers can produce a comparable thrust at much lower RPMs.

P.S.: And this brings me to 1111 posts!  Grin

Re:

The ESC value is dictated by the current drawn by the motor which in turn is dictated by the wattage of the motor ... The higher wattage the more current drawn the higher amp ESC required ....

High kv motors come in low as well as high wattage ratings. Small propellers experience much more resistance in water than in air. Therefore a motor pulls much more current while driving a propeller in water.

Hence, you need a motor with high wattage rating (high max. current draw) with a high current handling ESC.
