Title: RC Boat 42" Scratch built -(Help Needed)
Post by: satishjohnbosco on October 24, 2013, 10:25:37 PM
Hi,

After seeing desachristopher's build wanted to try the build. Hence, started with the plans posted in the thread tried a model first. Finally got hands on the sunboard to create a frame. Got the frame and body stuck, but plan to use fibreglass cloth and resin, to create the outer layer as the sunboard is not a solution just used it as a skeleton. Well I am no veteran  :( at building these. Hoping to complete with the help of forum support.

Since I have never used the fibreglass cloth with resin need help on how to achieve it. Electronics will try the ones in the above thread.

Anyone who has used Rudder and Boat Shaft Sleeve or boat parts for sale secons... will be really help full.. short of funds for new one. help appreciated  :hatsoff:

Attaching pics of the build so far.. please excuse as i am just a beginner at building.

I built a 39" Baby Bootlegger, didn't use cloth, only resin. Worked out pretty good, and strengthened substantially. Of course, my formers and bulkheads were particle board. Used it inside and outside; sunboard does absorb a little water.

Have a look:

Nice build!

I'm building a 26'' from the same plans, but looks like my templates are out of proportion. Build stalled at the moment.  :(

AnjanBabu can we use it for coating the complete boat for proofing... i am planning to use resin as per sanjayrai55 sir's suggestion, which he has done for http://www.rcindia.org/boats/110th-scale-baby-bootlegger/

Just have plain coat of resin, dats enough I guess, Even I did the same, you wont find resin in hardwares. try to search for some fiberglass workshop.
