Hi all,
I am new to this group and i am a beginer for RC hobby. Can anyone help me how to build a boat hull instead of purchasing? and also how about the electronic motor power supply? coz i don't know much about the electrical calculation.

Thank in advance.

Take care.

Hi Farooque,

1. What kind of a boat do you want to build - Speedboat, racer, warship, launch, etc?
2. How big do you want it to be?
3. Do you want to start with something as basic as "it moves on water and can be steered/controlled"?
4. What material would you like to use to build the boat - wood, foam, thermocol, depron?

If you can throw some light on the above, we can all pitch in. Let us know if you want plans (that would again depend on what kind of a boat you want to build) and we can send them to you.

Welcome to the forum!

The best thing would be, if you surf the net and post a photo of what you want to build. You said that you are a beginner to the hobby, so keep it simple. After a successful first build, you can progress to more complex stuff.

Cheers!

See if you are a beginner in this hobby, I would advice to start with a simple boat. High details with all ship fittings may attract you but after gaining little experience. Collect a simple plan and first try to experiment the hull part with hard boards and file boards (what we use in text book/ Register binding). If everything is fine, you can go for Balsa / Simul wood.

I did my first boat in the similar fasion with own plan & design.

In the video you can observe a yellow & orange coloured boat, which I made earlier with Hard board & file board.

superb Boat. Clap Maharana.
I think beginners with boat building need to start with Coro or similar material than trying out with Balsa. I built my first boat with Balsa and self plans. But I later thought making one out of Coro or thermacol would have given a better hand before trying out Balsa for boats.

Actually I did a lot of mistakes in this boat. First there was no space inside to keep ESC, Battery, 2nd  the tail part of the hull was little bigger, 3rd the rudder was too big as compared to the weight of the boat, for which a lot of imbalance created while making a turn.

First of all many many thanks for your reply, yes i will try to build irst by the wood and then i will try from Balsa wood. The boat will be approx. 70 cm long and i also have a plan for that but my concern is about the Balsa wood from where i will get and what will be the cost for that? and also about i want to tell that i have a electronic circuit of RC Car will it be suitable for that?

Thanks & Regards,
Farooque.

If this is your first build, then I recommend a single drive system. A lot of complicacy is involved in dual driving systems; you may require contra rotating propellers and brushed motors don’t perform well with contra rotating setups. If the weight of your  model boat is around 1.5 kgs you can use 400 sizes brushed motor with 480 Li ESC, with a 2s/3s LiPo. I am using the same configuration (with 2s LiPo) in two of my rc boats.

Looks like standard 380 or 400 type motors. Available for Rs.300 each from here:

I have a spare driving shaft, stuffing tube, rudder mechanism, motor (400 brushed) and a propeller. I think it will work fine for you. Let me know if you are interested.
