L'enfant Terrible du RCIndia

For the last 4 years I have salivated over this boat. I've run from pillar to post trying to get the plans. Downloaded a whole load of PDF plans and had contemplated building it from scratch. However, it being a daunting task, I kept dilly dallying. How I wished to have the laser cut bulkheads. Being tentative about remitting money overseas and not getting what I wanted, I stalled on several occasions.

Now a senior friend has stepped in and ended the wait in 4 days flat. What I couldn't achieve in 4 years, this gentleman accomplished in 4 days. I am deliberately not naming the gentleman as I don't want him swamped with "me too" requests. If he steps in here and acknowledges, so be it. Bow

This boat will take a LOOOOOOONG time to be crafted. Lots of details, metal work, plating (other than the build) need to be planned and executed to perfection. This model deserves it. She will measure (50") 1270 mm O.A.L. and will have a beam of (13.5") 343 mm when finished. The hull parts that have been laser cut from 5mm MDF board weigh 1.6 kgs, thus I envisage the completed boat to have an A.U.W. of 5 Kgs or so.

Needless to say, she is going to be MASSIVE. Received the kit on 11/06/2013 Target date of completion - 27/10/2014.

Regards.

Good for you VC.

If the said friend is also building one of these, and will be posting his build log here, what happens to the non-disclosure clause?

I guess then the 'non disclosure clause' shall vanish. I hope he doesn't read your cautionary post and decide to keep his build a secret. I wouldn't like it to rain on his funeral............. Grin

Better figure out the power unit and hardware first or the 'dream' will be a nigjtmare. You need to design around them

Looking forward to seeing this one built I like the riva style boats very classy indeed
What do you plan on powering this boat with Huh?
A member of the model boat I'm in http://www.scmbc.org.au/Home has built a couple of riva boats he runs on brushed 550 motors and is a good scale speed

This is what worries me about selling the files for laser cutting as it's a lot of work to build the files as you have to build the boat and make sure it works upwards of a 100hrs

When you finish building this boat make sure you coat the MDF with a resin west system resin is awesome for this job other wise if it gets wet and it only need a drop of water and the MDF board will swell up and you don't want all your hard work going to waste

Thanks for the reassurance regarding using 550 motors. I have a couple of them lying around. A certain gentleman has been scaring the hell out of me by telling me horror stories about having to use a 26cc Gasser for this build. Now that you have certified the value of twin 550 motors, we can both breathe a little easier!

This is only if you want scale speed and not a fast boat you will have to use 30-35mm 3 blade props
You could also use outrunners I have 2 35/36 1450KV on 3 cell in a patrol boat and it really gets up and boggies you could use a large outrunner as well on single drive but higher cell count
