Here the Crank performs two functions (1) reciprocating action at the main axle (2) swing action of the main axle.
The swing rod passes though a ball joint, fixed on a perforated strip which in turn controlled by a servo. By changing the position of the ball joint and the lower end of the axle it is possible to steer the boat as shown in the below figure.
