This is my last entry for this sweepstakes.
rc boat 22 inches long, plans from roopesh krishna, a member here in this forum.

Made from 3mm balsa sheet. Here is some of my progress today.

took an hour to assemble everything and the hull is ready.

sanded and ready for putty

powered by emax 2822 motor and 2S 1000mah lipo.

the brass tube and the shaft were bought like 6months ago for this project and prop is still on transit.

Ready for putty!!

first and second coat of putty done. inside is cleanly coated.

need to give some 2 more coats on outside before painting.

trying for a redbull theme.

all this progress were done within a matter of 8 hours.

painting in progress

Motors, prop tube, shaft all set

some more, rudder set prop tube epoxied, all set before final coat of paint.

Top lid made from balsa covered with left over checkered covering film,

this entire boat if from left overs,

extra balsa from previous builds of multiple size from 1.5mm-3mm
partially damaged emax 2822 motor, some strands of the copper wire were cut hence motor not producing full thrust
High resistance turnigy 3S 1000mah lipo converted to 2S after once cell went dead,
ESC is a 30A defective SIMONK ESC from one of a reputed LHS, after 4 ESC from the same batch burns for no reason.

Now i have used almost all the stuffs from my desk!!

Seeing the video, had this thought:
Can we draw any inference about the dia/pitch/rpm of the prop
by looking at the ripple pattern in the wake?

Thanks everyone, this is one build where i am completely happy about.

Iyer sir, the prop is hand made from credit card like plastic. thought of using it as a temporary until my actual boat prop arrives from china, unfortunately have to use it in my maiden since it isnt delivered until now.

seems like the card is either not stiff enough and gets almost straight instead of the curvy shape(reduction in pitch when the speed pick up) in high speed and it spews water all around instead of pushing it back-more like a centrifuge.

or its too big and water is a few mm above the prop and hence not so efficient. either way i can confirm its not underpowered and its got good speed until quarter throttle and actually loses the speed a tad past quarter throttle. the motor is a 1200KV emax motor and runs on 2s 1300mah zippy lipo and should be a speeder with the proper prop.

will try testing it when the actual one arrives and with a 3S lipo and post videos here.

the dia is around one inch and no idea about pitch and the motor is a 1200KV one running on around 8V.

Thanks jana ji, sanjay sir. It barely touches the water at full throttle and rudder gives more than 360 deg turns. We ran out of water source to run it though as it hits mud sometimes....

Those turns are like a dog biting its tail! Great stuff.
Ashok, your next boat needs hydrofoils, so that it can lift its hull completely out of the water!
What a difference a proper prop made!
