Title: Starlet-RC Sailboat Scratchbuild.
Post by: v2 eagle on July 09, 2016, 05:26:05 AM
After Obsessed with Boats and the compulsion of weather and availability of big lake nearby, I took to building a RC sail boat. Completely unpowered and putting my rc skills to work.

Seems like the Starlet is the PiperCub of Boats and the plans seems easy at the beginning.
Got the plans from RCM Here after a day long of research in internet: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1435002&page=4

There seems to be very less help in the internet about rc sailboats unlike planes.

Enough of talking and will update the progress here as i do not expect this to be a speed build like my previous ones.

Pic here is a gentleman holding a Starlet and i expect mine to look the same once finished.

Wish me Goodluck guys.

@v2 eagle,
Great idea!
Here's an old build article that may be useful.
Supposed to be simple, but looks quite complicated...

Designer is Vic Smeed of aeromodelling (especially Tomboy) fame.

Look forward to your build. Best of luck.
Regards.

I had a slightest feeling that something is wrong with my printer settings and came to light while laying out the paper for sticking. The plan took 49A3 sheets and was humongous as if a child can drive it. The small keel was almost 2 feet and the boat was almost 8feet. Then I came to know why the plan was named 50% in the suffix. I should have printed it at 50%! Meanwhile did some readings on some rtr sailship instruction manual and can figure out the electronic winch and rudder mechanism and placement. Indeed it was a interesting build from beginning Iyer sir.
