Title: Buying a Traxxas Slash
Post by: virajkp on November 28, 2017, 03:29:56 PM
Greetings!

I am looking to buy a new Traxxas Slash 2WD brushed and later buy a brushless kit and other upgrades. I stay in India. Primary goal is to buy a Slash. Costs somewhere around 13-15K in US. What's the best way to buy?

  • Import from US using International Courier Service? DHL? UPS?
  • Ask a friend to get it from US?
  • Buy it locally in India for about 9-10K more?
  • Have you imported one? If so, how did you do it?
  • Is it too much of a hassle importing it?

Also, what is your opinion on buying a used Traxxas Slash 4WD. I'll be the third owner. The second owner claims to have all the necessary upgrades but I am not sure. Please help!  ???

Thanks a lot.

If new Traxxas Slash 2WD brushed,

https://www.amazon.com/Traxxas-Slash-2-4GHz-Radio-Battery/dp/B01DU474B0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511882086&sr=8-1&keywords=Traxxas+Slash+2WD&refinements=p_n_shipping_option-bin%3A3242350011

~23.8k through Amazon Global Shipping.
If customs duty isn't levied, deposit ~6.9k would be refunded. Final cost in that case ~17k.

If any issue that results in non delivery, full refund.

Thank you for the reply sandyx, sounds like a good deal! Now, once I buy this, is it like 100% sure to reach me or does it have any chance of getting seized by customs department irrespective of import duties are charged or not.

How can we predict that brother? I see this question being thrown around over here a lot. What if the plane go up in flames or something else? NONE of us could correctly answer that question.

Again, "If any issue that results in non delivery, full refund." That's what Amazon policy says. Your call.

Don't worry your rc will get through customs. Also you have the amazon security. So it's more than likely to be delivered to you in one complete parcel.

Lol told you before also, 4x4 with upgrades and a lipo @25k is a much better option than getting a 2wd for 23.8k (or lesser if at all they don't charge and refund customs).

The 4x4 I'm selling:
Slash 4x4 new is 400$
Shocks team associated upgrade 100$
Rpm a arms 20$ (stock also included)
Rpm caster and steer blocks front 20$
Battery 3300mah new 30$
Jconcepts overtray 22$
2.8" tyres and wheels(extra) 40$
These parts are US store prices , excluding shipping or customs

Turnigy 3000kv motor and esc. Runs great on 2s without any overheating (with the included heatsink on).

I spoke to Shashank, he says it isn't worth 25K, most of the parts were already on it like the motor and shocks. Other parts are optional upgrades. He says it shouldn't be more than 15K with shipping.

@viraj. There is some misunderstanding you have.

i said that i sold it for 16k plus shipping.
You can ask for arround that price without that rpm upgrades.
I DIDNT SAID THAT;; IT SHOULDNT BE MORE THAN 15K.

@Shashank you got a really good deal at 15k including shipping, but you sold for 16+ ship. As Harsha sold at throwaway price.

Similarly, I bought the truck without upgrades for 19k (still a good deal)shipped. And with the upgrades, at 25 it's a really good deal with all what you get. Just the body is a bit bashed.

And yes, spending on a new 2wd is a pretty stupid decision if you get a 4wd with upgrades, even if used, for a similar price.
Firstly 2wd sucks for bashing. And would keep getting stuck in the terrain, it's a 1/10 scale sc truck afterall.
