Title: Car Gyro and ESC connection
Post by: gbisht on August 29, 2011, 12:40:34 AM
Hi All,

Can any one interested to spend his valuable time to tell me can we use any Gyro for Car Drifting ?

if no, then what is difference ?

and I ordered Brushed ESC for some project, and anyone tell me how we do connectivity of
Rx, Brushed ESC, Brushed Motor, Battry and Servo same as basic RC Elec. car components.

Find attached Image on net but still confuse , how Rx get powered.
that wire connecting between ESC and Rx will do both function, give Signal to ESC for motor run, forward & Reverse and also provide current to RX ?

You can edit this image for explain, that will be better and easy option

The gyro goes in between the servo and Rx. See this...

Do keep in mind that using gyros for drifting is considered as 'cheating'.

Hi thanks for video, but I know how it works,

But my query is are heli and car gyro are same or different, i.e can I use my heli gyro in my RC car for drifting ??

hi mate.
mount and connect the gyro exactly the same as in the heli. :)......via the steering servo........
be aware there will be more vibration in the car so you may need thicker pads.

most esc's have an inbuilt BEC which will power the rx via the same wire. if u can provide the model number of your esc it would be helpful.

if it does not have an onboard BEC, a standalone will be required or a seperate RX battery may be used.

Hi Ajit,

it is
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6468

i think it have BEC, I checked its spec and find 5v/1A - BEC

but can you tell me we connect ESC input to battry and output to Motor and one wire that we connect to Rx

So is that wire only  Provide Power to Rx and also give signal to ESC to Run Motor Clock and anti-clockwise and stop(break) ??

hi mate.
at one end of the esc there are two wires [or three if brushless] these are for the motor,
at the other end there are two wires and a 3 wire strand with servo plug. there two go to the battery.
the three strand wire [when bec is in esc] red power for rx black is neutral, white is signal for rx and this 3 strand wire goes into the throttle ch of the rx, the white one is normally nearest the writing on rx.
so the 3 strand wire...when there is bec in esc will power the rx , the forward back is controled by the esc IF it has a reverse function.that one looks like it DOES NOT have reverse it will say so in the specs.

can you please check my ordered ESC
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6468

and explain it accordingly, I understand Battry and motor, but not clear 3 wires, plz let me correct

3 Wires
Red - Power for Rx - where it will connect in Rx ?
Black - where it will connect.
White - It provide signal, and it should connect on throttle ? but only one cable ?

It will be more helpfull if you can provide me some pic or diagram

hi mate
in the pic you supplied there is a 3 wire connection from the esc [ with fan on top] to  the rx at left of picture,
this is the wire that powers the rx the red one, the black is neutral and the white is the throttle signal wire.

here is a pic of my plane rx

I am using a seperate ubec bottom plug
throttle channel top plug and servos middle two......see the three wires ?
mine are different make to yours and have different color wires. [ black is brown and white is orange ]
if your transmitter is futaba throttle will be ch3,
esky.JR,SPECTRUM ECT throttle will be channel 1

Thanks Again,

And now I feeling myself a dump RC lover.

Please find my ESC, Rx and connectivity pics

In last image, diag.jpg.

this is what I am thinking how my devices will connect with each other
